Over the years, psychologists and scientists have studied human genetics and behavior to see if our life is predetermined by genetics and environment. There are countless studies that support the theory, and many go against it as well, there is not a definite answer. Some believe if you are born into a certain culture or race, you may be given less opportunities as opposed to someone from another race or culture. While there may be some truth to that statement, I believe everyone is capable of the same success if you are working hard. The baby with the darker skin color is shown wearing a maid, or house cleaner outfit. This really has an emotional impact on the audience. I think this is a great example of pathos because it appeals to the emotions. I think by dressing the baby in this outfit we are seeing that theory of our life being predetermined by race is true. The creator is the ad is trying to relay the unfortunate message that the color of your skin can heavily dictate your future.
I think using babies for this ad is spot on. The babies show the lack of control for the message the creator is trying to portray. For example, your skin color dictates your future and this is something you have no control over, babies are helpless and have no control over any situation. I liked the idea of picking an ad that had such a clear message that there was no need to include text to further explain the message. I think it adds strength to the message and makes a bolder impression on the reader or audience. I think the props used in this photo are so simple yet so powerful, if you look there really isn’t a whole lot of things going on in the photo, it’s pretty simple yet the message is so striking. I think the simplicity really adds to the overall theme and
