The building has the capacity to have many different activities and serve more seniors with the current staff. This allows multiple activities to take place at the same time, for example, seminars and workshops in one area, card games and puzzles in another and exercise in yet another. The Site Manager and the volunteers could effectively continue to serve if more seniors used the center without an increase in the cost of staffing. Seniors having a place to come and socialize and helps maintain independence is a strength of the center. One study noted that “compared to home care users who had not previously used senior centers, previous senior center users do have lower levels of IADL, and ADL impairment”CITATION Mil04 \p 21 \l 1033 (Miltiades, Grove, & Drenovsky, 2004, p.…
Richardson Molding (packing flag kits and placing washers on screw boards), Central Electric (stuffing letters in envelopes, wetting and sealing flaps on envelopes, and applying mail labels), Central Office Supplies (labeling water bottles), Anthony's Syrup (forming boxes and labeling and packing containers), Star Herald (collating inserts and applying labels to newspapers). His average production rate was 41%. He also did janitorial work at AbilityWorks, two churches, and an office building. The instructor noted the following limitations to employment: fluctuations in daily work levels, and poor physical stamina (sedentary work only). He is able to follow instructions and he remains on task. He produces good quality work and he seems to…
Southern Park Heights most glaring health outcomes are the number of deaths that occur. The average life expectancy for Southern Park Heights is 66.7 years; however, it is interesting that 50.9% of the deaths that occurred could be avoided if the community had the same opportunity at health. It is also important to note that the total annual years of potential life lost per 10,000 residents is 2025.9. Compared to the city overall, Southern Park Heights have significantly higher numbers in negative health outcomes. The rates of death in Southern Park Heights are higher than those of Baltimore City. For example, the top ten causes of death have a slightly higher rate than the number in Baltimore City. Cancer is the second cause of death and…
They did a lot of base line survey that they did about their programs and provide their result to the committees meeting. They also mention about providing help to the older adult with their problem, concerns (60 or 70+), and events. They talk about how to get older adult to think that parks and recreations are not only a place to exercise but also a place to socializing or community space. They also thinking about how to spread the information for different generation such as paper and internet. They also mention how to consider the difficulty of older adult and meet their needs by translation, or more people to help them navigate about where they want to go such as reception when the building is big or more sign in park trail. This presentation is mainly about informative rather than pushing council to do something about…
Each group throughout the camp is broken into about 15 to 20 kids each with 2 coaches and several high school volunteers to assist them. This incredible staff to camper ratio allows for unmatched individual attention. The other camp in town, Brunswick Baseball Camp, will have anywhere from 25-50 kids in a group, with only 3 coaches to account for all of the campers. This setup doesn’t cannot even compare to the level of individualized coaching that’s achieved at Cardinal Baseball Camp. This difference in organization of the two camps has caused for many parents to switch their kids into Cardinal Baseball Camp. Coach Mike Mora said that the camp gains about 4 or…
During this summer, I attended an Architecture Summer Program at the University of Pennsylvania, designed a children’s water park in the campus and hand-made a model of it. However, the visit of City Hall and Dilworth Park inspired me much. City Hall, as the heart of downtown Philadelphia and the nation’s largest municipal building, serves the city’s government and politics for over 100 years. It boasts over 250 architectural relief’s and freestanding sculptures including the statue of William Penn, which stands atop the City Hall Tower . The classic Second French Empire style of City Hall buildings and the modern sense of the Dilworth Park in front of City Hall perfectly integrate and mutually impact each other. The dynamic energy of the fountain in Dilworth Park does not affect the majesty of City Hall, rather add vitality to it .…
They will help and support the community to achieve those goals. Their purpose is to provide as many communities as possible a place that they can learn about healthy living and social responsibilities. This is a nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and contributors in order to operate. The community needs to get involve and each individual will teach others on how chose healthier way of living. This specific agency was selected because we wanted to point out the excellent job that the volunteers of this center do in order to help the community. The students are making sure that the selected population stays fit, healthy and taking care of. They are making a difference in the community by pushing each of these consumers to be able to keep their mobility and independence. They take the consumers to the YMCA to perform multiple activities. The location we chose was YMCA that is located in Hollywood, Florida. Their office hours are Monday-Friday 5:00 AM – 9:30 PM. At this facility they offer programs in Health and Fitness, Aquatics, Camping, Family, childcare, community development, sports, and teens. Since this is a nonprofit organization, Chamberlain College of Nursing supplies nursing students to Lucanus Disability Center in order to help with quality patient education to their consumers. The nurses’ role is to assess the individuals, teach them about better choices for them to improve in…
The organization provides a safe and welcoming environment for children and their families to play, learn and interact. The program reaches out to mainly lower income families who live within the county limits. The families that have children aged 3 years to age 16 years are the organization’s main focus group. The organization is a non-profit program. It does not charge a fee for the services it provides, but rather depends on donations, investors and volunteers. The organization would work by communicating with the schools, churches, and police stations to give the program’s information to certain youth and their families. The children who are bullied into doing/not doing something, suffer from bad grades, or have a criminal past would be the main focus of the group. At the organization, there would be spaces for different activities like a gymnasium for sports, one or two classrooms for tutoring and homework help, and a game room with a variety of…
There are multiple ways that recent trends in the sport industry are affecting the YMCA. A majority of them would be revolving around the economy and how the YMCA is considered a luxury to the people. Others would be the increase of fitness in the world and sport curiosity and also the elderly still maintaining their healthy lifestyles. The increased popularity of celebrity athletes in the world are leading to an increased popularity in the sport world (Balmer, 2009). The battle against obesity is increasing the number of people who join a fitness club or health organization. Also, many people are beginning to try to find both healthier lifestyles and seeking a balance between work and leisure (Sports, 2007). Lastly, the way that kids are being taught is changing; practices are becoming known as best practices and the kids are learning more of the sport and becoming better (Stephens, 2009).…
I made my way across the parking lot, towards the entrance to the gym. As I reached the double doors I paused, then slowly turning, I attempted to take in as much of the outside view as I could. I saw a green meadow dotted with a few thoughtfully placed picnic tables, a few baseball, and soccer fields. I also noticed that this place is home to a busy skateboard park right beside a well-kept playground. My pan of the scene had revealed to me that this place has grown into something more than what I had remembered it to be. Today this center welcomes people of all ages. In contrast, when the U.S. Air Force ran this facility it was for military personnel and their adult dependents. It was a simple gymnasium with a couple of minimally groomed baseball diamonds and multipurpose fields, lacking any beauty. Today, the sturdy old building and surrounding fields are a beautiful sight to behold, and maintained by a local community services organization. The quick survey of the sports center had reminded me that this place is still serving the community in a big way with its available venues and activities.…
Systematic youth sports are now a custom in United States. Baseball, football, ice hockey, and soccer has drawn more than 40 million youngsters alleges the National Council of Youth Sports. Many youngsters grew to enjoy the games while learning the game by well qualified coaches. One important element in a systematic youth sport is having a safe place for all kids to play so they can enjoy the sport (Silverman, 2011).…

When in high school, one of the most memorable things to do is go to the games, attend homecoming, or the pep rallies every semester. One thing they all have in common is that they are tied to sports. High school sports are an important part of children's lives whether they are the ones attending the game or the one playing in it. A few years ago, Solano County tried to cut sports programs because there was no room in the budget for it. The community reacted by spending their whole summer raising money in any way they could by selling things to standing outside of the mall collecting donations with the fire department. High school sports programs are important and should not be on the list of school cuts.…
