During this essay I wish to discuss what is the original position and what its purpose is, how the veil of ignorance works and why it’s important for the original position to work. Also, what Rawls Two principle of justice are and why Rawls believes that parties in the original position will chose these principles.

Rawls believes it is in the participants best interest to use maximin reasoning, how the maximin works is by “compare alternatives by the worst possible outcome under each alternative, and we should choose one which maximize the utility of the worst outcome.” (http://tiseda.sakura.ne.jp/works/maximin.html) Rawls believes his two principles of justice work as it makes all in society cooperate, according to the maximin rule the society should be designed in a way as to maximise the position of those in society which will be worse off in said society, “This means maximizing the minimum, or choosing the option where the worst possible outcome is better than the worst possible outcomes in the other options.”
