Hist 1 (04:00-05:30 pm) Reaction Paper on the Assassination of Benigno Aquino Jr.

“My feeling is all we have to die some time. Now it’s my fate to die by an assassin’s bullet. So be it but I cannot be petrified by inaction or fear of assassination and therefore stay in a corner.” last words of Ninoy, Benigno S. Aquino Jr., few minutes before he was killed by a shot on a head.

Ninoy’s life in politics started very early. He was the youngest mayor at 22, the country's youngest vice-governor at 27, then governor of Tarlac two years later. He became the youngest senator in Philippine history at 34.His many achievements, despite his few years of experience, earned him the moniker, "Wonder Boy". He is a wide-reader

Many we’re still unsatisfied with the government hearings and investigation. Then Agrava Commission was founded, several fallacies by the government’s investigation were exposed. The first questionable part on the investigation was, Is Ninoy still on the service steps when assassinated or is he already on the Tarmac. It took 11 seconds before the first shot was heard, and there are 19 narrow service stairs. By there, one can conclude that it is impossible that Ninoy and his personal body guards and security reached the tarmac in just 11 seconds and so it clearly states that when he was shot, he was still on the service stairs. The second one, was the conversation heard over the camera saying “Akon na! Akon na!” (Let me …) and “Pusila pusila” (Shot him, shot him?!” which said to be said and told by someone to the assassin. And the third one was about the trajectory of the bullet in his skull. Based on the findings, the trajectory shot was going downward, shooter is at higher elevation and the exit wound is at the end of the chin which also proves that it is really going downward. Those was the major findings that made the concerned realize that maybe the assassin is not Galman whom at the …show more content…
And so they won, and elected Ninoy’s wife, Cory Aquino as a successor of Marcos and the first ever woman president in our country.

His death was the root and the very cause of the first ever Filipino movement, it made them prove or even people across the globe, that we, Filipinos can unite and fight for what we think is right. And so, it should be our motivation that we should also act and move as one if there’s another problem still yet to come. The movement also proved, that we can still be united, and I hope that in years to come, if there will be a problem that needs our unity to resolved, we can still act like that.

Almost all may have the idea that Marcos was the one who ordered to kill Aquino because it was also obvious that Aquino’s main opponent was Marcos. Finding justice for Ninoy’s death, is not really and just about finding the killer or the one who ordered to kill him, rather justice can also be found on how the Filipinos made Ninoy as an icon, leader and the one who woke them up to move, to act and to fight for what they think is right. And so for many other people like me I can say, that Benigno Aquino Jr is truly a hero for what he did, he died fighting the Filipinos, but he didn’t die in vain because the

On June 30, 2010, Benigno Aquino III became the 15th and current President of the Philippines. He is the son of two political leaders, Senator Benigno Aquino Junior and former President Corazon Aquino. Senator Aquino was a political leader who fought for people’s freedom under the ruling of President Ferdinand Marcos. After eight years in prison and three years of self-exile in the United States, Senator Aquino returned to the Philippines only to be assassinated by a military officer immediately after he stepped off the plane (Encyclopedia Britannica Online, 2011a). President Corazon Aquino fought against poverty and the enormous debt of the Philippines during her time in office. Soon after her death in 2009, many people looked to her son, Benigno Aquino III, and encouraged him to run for President. Winning by more than 5 million votes, Aquino was elected as president (Cable News Network [CNN], 2009).…

Last July 28, 2014, President Benigno S. Aquino III had his fifth State of the Nation Address. This serves as a means to inform the nation about the present conditions of the country. SONA 2014 highlights the achievements of the administration on education, social services, economy, infrastructure, calamity efforts, jobs, rehabilitations after typhoons and earthquakes, modernization of AFP, security, ARMM Bangsamoro and livelihood. The President used many metaphors in uttering his speech, he started with a common Filipino saying, “Ang hindi marunong lumingon sa pinanggalingan, hindi makararating sa paroroonan.” It is just right because this is his second to the last year in service, before he entered, our country was filled with problems left unsolved. Before, we were considered “The Sick Man of Asia” with weak economy and sparse industry. Corruption was also endemic. And maybe when we look back to the past with a lot of problems impossible to solve, we will be motivated to correct mistakes, within the President’s leadership we began to hope and had our journey on a straight and righteous path or the so called “Tuwid na Daan.”…

Dr. Jose Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonzo Realonda, our national hero who is known for his nationalism and patriotism usually come side by side with these words; the doctor, the writer, the philosopher, the clairvoyant, and most of all the hero who died for the country. More than a hundred and fifty years ago, that hero was born and history says that he was the one who revolutionized a new uprising. Not through the literal bloody and violent revolutionary way but by unravelling the skeletons in the colonizers closet through his works and writings. Though he died in the hands of the colonizers, he fought the bloodless way and sparked the spirit of nationalism of the Filipino as an individual.…

Jose Rizal is our national hero but seriously i don’t know a lot about him. But when I watched the film about Dr. Jose Rizal I was shocked and amazed because of his sacrifice for our country. I though the he was a brilliant individual. He served as an inspiration to all Filipino. During his lifetime, he spent many years outside the Philippines, enriching himself through education, especially in Madrid, Spain. The distance did not diminish nor reduce his love for his country. Far from his motherland, he looked across the seas to find its strength, as well as its weaknesses, in order to uplift it from the abuses of foreign rule.…

This August we celebrate the History Month as provided by Proclamation No. 339 signed by President Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino III on February 2013. The month of August marks a significant period in the history of our country. It reminds us about the beginning of the quest of the Filipinos to liberate our country from the tyranny of the Spanish regime. After the discovery of the Katipunan on August 19, 1896, Bonifacio called for a general assembly and on August 23, 1896 (an account of Pio Valenzuela on 1948) the Cry of Pugadlawin (also referred as “Cry of Balintawak”) happened where the Katipuneros tore their cedulas up which symbolizes their determination to to take arms and fight to the last. And the rest is history as they say. Another important incident happened in the month of August was the assassination of Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” S. Aquino Jr., the archrival of the Asia’s strong man Pres. Ferdinand E. Marcos. His assassination led to the awakening of the Filipino people from the abuses of the the dictatorship of Pres. Marcos. Some political analysts explained that Ninoy’s funeral which was attended by millions of Filipinos manifested the first “people power” against the late dictator. These stories became important turning points in our historical accounts.…
