There is nothing better than getting home from school and taking a big bite out of a nice crunchy apple. After a bad day, you can take your anger out through biting the apple and hearing the solid crunch. Luckily for our generation, there are apple cutters that make it simple and quick to cut up apples for those who can not bite straight into them. Once again, apples can be enjoyed by everyone. Crunchy apples can also be symbolic. These apples can symbolize how students around you at school may look happy and hardheaded, but in reality are bruised and soft hearted. The colour red has associations that add to the symbolism of red hibiscuses in the text. Red, a colour which is often associated with anger, violence and bloodshed, is a often appearing motif in the novel. It is a colour that seems to haunt Kambili, since the episode in which she had to clean up her mother’s blood, after Papa abused her. For a long time afterward, Kambili cannot concentrate on anything but the red blood: “The black typed blurred, the letters swimming into one another, and then changed to a bright red, the red of fresh blood.”(35). The red hibiscuses that are planted in the garden of the family home in Enugu suggest the family’s oppression, as it is only through Papa’s violence that he keeps them under his control.…

The original logo was of an image of Sir Isaac Newton leaning against an apple tree with a portion of a William Wordsworth poem running around the border, designed by Ron Wayne in 1976. One year later the design was changed to a visual graphic of an apple with a bite mark. “According to Janoff, the “bite” in the apple logo was originally implemented so that people would know that it represented an apple not a tomato. It also lent itself to a nerdy play on words (bite/byte), a fitting reference for a tech company” (Apple 2009). The apple was rainbow colored. This was believed to make the company more “humanize”. The color was not in any particular order, except for the green at the top were the leaf was. As time pasts the apple logo changed to the monochrome logo that represents the company today.…
