I agree with your statement that project duration plays an important role in making profit and the loss of profit in an organization. In the article, “Cost optimal project scheduling” the authors implied that, “Execution of each project activity normal duration requires employment of certain resources. In cases when faster execution of an activity is required the additional resources at extra cost must be utilized” (Klansek, U., & Psunder, M. ,2008). Sometimes the deadlines for certain task may be in critical paths which can affect the project duration. Earned value collaborates with monitoring the project duration. Abba & Neil (2010), quoted, “By definition, EV of an activity is a measure of completed work, and represents the budgeted cost of work performed”. This can support the claim that the cost and resources is essential to the project duration.
