Reflection Report on Management Policy and Strategy

Our group has select Veeko, a declining brand, to demonstrate important of the strategic choice and the how to set the strategy base on internal resource and capability in the Capstone project. We apply the Michael Porter’s 5 force model to evaluate the industry competitively and PEST model for the external environment. Our finding was that most factors are unfavorable for the company to sustain growth. We also conducted the SWOT analysis to identify the internal strengths and weaknesses and the external opportunities and threats. The challenge to us was that Veeko was a company without any core competence. Professor Howard inspired us to build the strength by organizational restructuring. We proposed Veeko change from a family business structure to a multi-divisional structure. We also apply the McKinsey 7-S framework to ensure the restructure implementation successfully. The SWOT analysis played a key role in this project.

We suggest implementing the strategy controls and improving the Corporate Governance to reactivate the hidden financing power. After the restructuring, Veeko might be able to raise fund for diversification in financial market.

We have learnt a new strategy tool for strategy options in this course. Bowman’s strategy clock provides an easy comparative position for our competitors. We selected different position in different market according to our capability and resource at that time.

I find that the most meaning thing is studying by Knowledge-building Worksheet. We analyzed the case study through COLLECT the key points, CONNECT the key points to the topic and CREATE some new ideas. I really enjoy create the new ideas and sharing the opinions among the teammates.

If I were given the chance to do it all over again, I would focus more on decision choice and the different between the short and long term competition strategy. I believe it is more interesting than

A common problem in companies today is the tendency of top decision-makers to neglect the long-term strategic goals and focus on short-term goals and profit. Although decision-makers must consider both short-term and long-term effects in making sound business decisions, relevant cost analysis and strategic analysis are significant aspects of the decision-making process (Blocher, Stout, & Cokins, 2010, p. 430). Without careful strategic analysis, decision-makers…

In order for Kudler Fine Foods to utilize the advantage of competitive opportunities, managers will have to be informed of external and internal factors that are likely to affect the company performance. With the managers knowing the factors, the company will be able to react to competitive challenges. Managers can improve assessment and scanning skills through knowledge of the company’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (Pearce & Robinson, 2009). Bradford, I really enjoyed your post as we share the same ideas and seem to have the same experiences with multiple supervisors. I liked how you stated up front that unity of command and unity of direction mean different things and not should not be confused with each other. To me, unity of command is the most important because unity of direction cannot exist without it, especially in criminal justice. Like you said, each officer should only have one direct supervisor that is ultimately responsible for him or her because confusion can arise if there are more than one. I saw this recently at my agency and it really affects the newer officers if the problem is not corrected. I also saw how unity of direction can really work when one…

Pre-O helped me transition because it helped me make friends before classes started. While everyone else were attempting to make new friends the students of Pre-O already formed bonds and found friends. It also helped me become familiar with the campus. The rest of the incoming freshmen were struggling during orientation because they didn't have the advantage that we did. They asked us all types of questions such as 'Where is Modlin?', 'What is the quickest way to get back to the dorms?', and so on. All in all, it was just a nice feeling to be able to knowledgeable and not have to struggle with new surroundings.…

The purpose of the Reflective Report is to foster an ability to reflect on their experience and consider ways in which their developing understanding of the theory, which underpins practice, can help them to develop an attitude of critical awareness of their own actions, values, motives etc, and also to the actions, values and motivations of others that they work with. Students complete a weekly reflective report during level 1, and a fortnightly reflective report during levels 2 and 3. A form is provided for this purpose, which can be found in the Practice Handbook or on the website (www.baywat.weebly.com) along with guidelines about how to complete this for each stage of the course. However, the following points should be noted with regard to reflective reports for all levels; • • • Reflective reports are submitted by email to tutors by 4.00pm on the Friday they are due. Late submissions will be counted as a fail. They are graded using the practice CAS scale. There is no specific word count associated with reflective reports but, as a guide, level 1 should cover 2 sides of A4, while levels 2 and 3 will probably require a further side in order to provide adequate evidence of reflective activity. However, quality is more important than quantity, and the main content of each Reflective paper should be within the ‘Reflective Comments’ section. In order to attain professional accreditation, at Level 3 all students must meet JNC Level 2 requirements (CAS 12 or above) for all their reflective reports. Students who do not meet these requirements but do pass (CAS 9 -11) can still graduate without JNC professional accreditation. No more than 5 reflective reports can be failed in any semester, or the practice will be counted as having failed for that semester. Students are permitted to resubmit each reflective recording once in order to meet the appropriate standard. Normally, practice would be made up during the summer, but students…

    Group Reflection Report

The group process went very smoothly from my perspective. In the time that we have interacted in this cohort, there have been many group assignments. From those experiences, there have been improvements in the methods of communication, like e-mail and texting. Text messaging is a very convenient method to alert cohort members or recent updates to the assignment or to make inquiries. Because most of us have nursing jobs, texting is a good way to communicate when computer access is not possible. In the group, I was not aware of any problems with the group process. Especially as the report on the IEP was being written, group members responded promptly with changes, editing and suggestions.…
