Pre-O Reflective Report
Pre-O helped me transition because it helped me make friends before classes started. While everyone else were attempting to make new friends the students of Pre-O already formed bonds and found friends. It also helped me become familiar with the campus. The rest of the incoming freshmen were struggling during orientation because they didn't have the advantage that we did. They asked us all types of questions such as 'Where is Modlin?', 'What is the quickest way to get back to the dorms?', and so on. All in all, it was just a nice feeling to be able to knowledgeable and not have to struggle with new surroundings.

During this placement, I have learned that safeguarding referrals rely on professional judgements against the Risk Threshold Procedures (RTT, 2017) and legislation of Care Act 2014. Assessments methods within adult safeguarding present as both process-focused (clear directives of how to protect vulnerable adults within legislation and policy) and contingent (assessment goals vary on context and independent variables) (SCIE, 2007). The assessment process is systematic and embedded into the Care Act in how local authorities are duty bound to respond and protect adults from abuse (Care Act, 2014). However, despite the process focused approach, there is an element of human subjectivity and the level of need and risk is dependent on gathering the…

During high school, I committed most of my free time to my NJROTC unit and my 4-H club. In both of these organizations, community service, leadership, citizenship, and initiative are indispensable values that are essential to their functioning, and I like to think I have learned to embody these traits. In 4-H, I have attended, and then went on to teach, numerous leadership and group trainings. In NJROTC, I attended the Area 5 Leadership Academy, graduated as the Second Honor Cadet of the 2014 Academy, and was selected to be an Aide for the 2015 Academy. I held, or currently hold, leadership positions in both organizations and I feel I set a good example for my peers and subordinates. Through any task, I am enthusiastic about my job and…

    Reflective Summary

I felt sad for Mr. Gill, one of the main reasons being that I have personally been in a MVC myself which brought up the similar feelings, such as anxiety and chronic pain that Mr. Gill expressed. It felt like despite the differences in our age or situation, the pain he was expressing I could relate to directly. Another reason for feeling sadness for him was that he reminded me so much of my own father in appearance and nature. During the session, he referred to me as someone who is like his daughter and that he felt comfortable sharing information with me. I think this moment caused a shift in our therapeutic relationship, in which I felt even more inclined to show him respect and to provide encouragement on his development. The language barriers he faced in getting treatment made me feel angry towards the system. Unfortunately, MVC are common occurrences in our society thus, I imagined that the support systems would have been set in place for survivors to reduce the effects of physical and psychological harms.…

I was able to learn that I can. I can take high school and college classes together. I can manage a social life while at CSN. I can spend countless hours of doing homework and studying without freaking out. I had to have a new understanding of my self; I had to be an adult. The people at my college did not see me as a high school student many of them did not know I attended high school. I also learned about others and how to cooperate better with other individuals. I was able to see an array of different people, something I would not be aloud to experience at a normal high school. Through countless group projects, labs, and group oriented work I was able to out my self in other peoples shoes and see the situation from another perspective.…

In order to shorten the time of the IEP meetings and to improve parent's understanding I have been asked to read the IEP prior to the meeting to a parent who does not speak/read English. I have attended trainings offered by your office years ago where I have been told/suggested, If I am not mistaken, that I should not do that when I am by myself. Could you please let me know if I am correct and/or there have been new changes regarding this issue.…

Bradford, I really enjoyed your post as we share the same ideas and seem to have the same experiences with multiple supervisors. I liked how you stated up front that unity of command and unity of direction mean different things and not should not be confused with each other. To me, unity of command is the most important because unity of direction cannot exist without it, especially in criminal justice. Like you said, each officer should only have one direct supervisor that is ultimately responsible for him or her because confusion can arise if there are more than one. I saw this recently at my agency and it really affects the newer officers if the problem is not corrected. I also saw how unity of direction can really work when one…

That was another week went by at Sherwood Park Manor. As usual, I started my shift by listening to the morning report and then heading to my assign resident room. I started morning care by providing the care of my assigned resident, including taking her vital signs. After that I directed my resident to sit in the dining for breakfast meal. And once I was done, I went and helped another resident with morning care too, and at last bring him to the dining for breakfast. However, before I head to the dining to help with feeding the resident I checked the room to ensure that everyone was out. While I was checking I found a resident lying in bed and when I asked other personal support worker about her, I was told that she refused to get up for breakfast. I went to her any way to try to convince her to come for breakfast and finally she was able to get up and…

When I was sixteen, I attended to a pre-college summer program for three weeks. When I arrived, I had a dorm room, a roommate, and seventy-nine strangers to become acquainted with. We had all come for the same general reasons – we wanted to learn more, experience more, and become at least slightly prepared for what college might be like. We attended classes and learned about new topics, but…

The Early College was the push I needed to better myself as a student and as a person. In high school, I received stellar grades and test scores without trying. I never needed to study, and I did the bare minimum for a majority of my assignments. Occasionally, I would find an assignment that I loved and go way beyond the requirement. I was a teacher favorite, but I was disliked by other students because I was a bit of a show off with my intelligence. I never needed time management skills, so I never developed them. While I was received good grades, I did not improve any of my skills or abilities. This program helped me find my faults and make changes that have made a world of difference.…

    Group Reflective Report

The two insights that were pointed out that during this session was the long road that I have for dealing with conflict in which group think can still take over and people be hesitant to act when they would normally not hesitate to act. During the session a member who everyone knows has extreme anxiety issues and has a companion animal at their side opened and shared an incredibly vulnerable part of their life. The one fact that is understood by everyone in that room is that people with anxiety or other mental issues do not like to be put in spotlight regardless of the situation. Especially, if that spotlight has found them in a vulnerable state. When this individual stalled out and did not appear to want to share a member of the group asked if they could do an exercise. When this was stated I understood this to be incorrect given that one, time was running out and two, this person does not need to be singled out in the group dynamic. However, I allowed this to happen thinking someone else would step…

Our group has select Veeko, a declining brand, to demonstrate important of the strategic choice and the how to set the strategy base on internal resource and capability in the Capstone project. We apply the Michael Porter’s 5 force model to evaluate the industry competitively and PEST model for the external environment. Our finding was that most factors are unfavorable for the company to sustain growth. We also conducted the SWOT analysis to identify the internal strengths and weaknesses and the external opportunities and threats. The challenge to us was that Veeko was a company without any core competence. Professor Howard inspired us to build the strength by organizational restructuring. We proposed Veeko change from a family business structure to a multi-divisional structure. We also apply the McKinsey 7-S framework to ensure the restructure implementation successfully. The SWOT analysis played a key role in this project.…
