In order to develop a career in the EMS field, you must have a passionate heart for people and caring for them. Becoming a First Responder, you must agree to the fact that your life is second. Tending, caring and providing safety precautions for patients always come first. I can make a difference in patient health care by many different methods. The most important is showing and teaching them mental and emotional coping skills to deal with stressful situations. As well as communicating with other members of healthcare to provide positive and safety outcomes. Building a trust relationship not just with the patients, but family members as well and pointing out that their health comes first, and I will stop at nothing to ensure that promise. As…
On an occasion at work I was aware of a staff member communicating very negatively, for example sighing and tutting and general negativity. Supervision was due so it was brought into meeting that last had concerned had noticed a change in the person’s general attitude, I asked if there was a specific reason and was told there was not. Although they agreed that they were being negative. We discussed the workload and it was decided it was not that. It was mentioned by the staff member that they were feeling a little unsure of how to deal with a service user who had dementia and was unpredictable and seemed to have taken a dislike to the staff member .We discussed at length the way forward and I arranged for some training in challenging behaviour and dementia. The staff member realised she could not avoid the service user and that if she had mentioned her concerns sooner the problem would not have escalated. She tried to hide her feelings but they were shown in a different way. I agreed to mentor and support the staff member with the service user helping her to find an appropriate approach, the service user was feeding on the negative behaviour of the staff .In a few weeks the situation was improved undoubtedly and the staff member is more positive and no longer showing any sign of negativity. I recorded everything we had discussed and we both signed it. At the following supervision the staff had been on a training workshop and was awaiting further news of more. She mentioned previously that she felt it was a weakness in her that is why she had tried to cover it up but since our discussion and my ongoing support she would never hesitate to mention any concerns she had in the future.…
Pre-hospital emergency medical treatment could be the difference between life and death, but it takes a special individual with a great deal of training. A paramedic is an individual who is at the highest level of emergency medical technicians, or EMTs. They are qualified to do medical work, typically in emergency first aid, and have a higher education in anatomy and physiology, cardiology, medications, and medical procedures. They may also administer intravenous lines, or IVs.…
I trained over 250 hours of lectures, hands-on practical, and clinical time to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician in Pennsylvania, certification #154008. During training,I learned patient assessment, oxygen administration, bandaging, splinting and spinal immobilization. Due to different state certification processes, I was unable to use my training once returning to college in New York, but the knowledge I acquired was priceless. Every day I was excited to learn the science, skills, and knowledge of how to apply them.I still remember both my nerves and excitement when taking vitals for the first time, during my ER rotation. This excitement reinforced my love for learning and…
The role of an emergency room nurse can be demanding and may require a nurse to use many different nursing skills at certain times to take care of a variety of patients. The main role is the nurse must be skilled in client assessment, priority setting, critical thinking, multitasking, and communication. The nurse must be knowledgeable and able to make some decisions independently. The nurse also needs to be able to prioritize so the pts who are at highest risk of major injury or complications are treated first. In a busy ER, time management is important too because there may be a lot of pts waiting for care. The nurse must be mentally prepared for rapid change and be able to keep calm in hectic situations. The ER nurse must be able work well in a team and be able to interact with all levels of ER professionals in order to give the pt the best possible care. ER nurses also need to be flexible and adapt quickly to rapidly changing situations. Nurses usually choose to work in the emergency area because they dislike routines and thrive in challenging, stimulating work environments. In one situation I observed, a male came in with chest pain. The nurse went to get him from the waiting area right away and hooked him up with the heart monitor and got him ready for an EKG. The nurse stayed calm, and gathered the information from the pt next. She had her own system for what she normally does depending on the level of the pt’s injury. Another key role is teaching. The ER nurse needs to make sure the pt knows what to do after discharge and/or when they may need to return to the ER for further testing or treatment.…

INTRODUCTION: As someone interested in working in the theatre industry, it is vital that I am aware of how my voice, as an instrument at my disposal, is able to be utilised and manipulated in order to work effectively, healthily and to its full potential. To be in a position where this is possible, I must first take ownership of my voice and identify key aspects and characteristics of it. Furthermore, I must be able to recognise influential factors on my voice including significant events and relationships that have shaped my voice and the impact my voice has on my daily life and acting. Finally, I must be able to ascertain any vocal habits, tensions or issues that exist and their origins as well as possible methods of elimination.…
I learned everything there is to know about being an EMT and maintaining a well stocked and efficient ambulance. I remember my first trauma patient, she was a female who had been so severely beaten, her family couldn't recognize her face. Walking into a room and seeing this chaos, hearing the screaming ,and smelling the blood is something I can never forget. There is an adrenaline rush you get a feeling of knowing you are what stands in the way of this person living or dying. My heart felt as if was going to beat right out of my chest, but it was at that moment my training kicked in. I run through my “trauma patient checklist” in my head and it's as if you become a robot and you do your job and get your patient to safety. In that fifteen minutes of chaos where I felt my world was falling apart, I realized this was my calling and I had to continue in this career…
I will begin observing the environment through nurture and nature in developing our self concept. Self concepts are the realization of experiences gathered from history and the future in how people were, and who he or she aspires to be. Studies demonstrate that people look to society for suspicions, trust, and an accepting of what to expect from situations in society. For example, the way we intermingle and what society believes he or she is supposed to adhere to. In the social world it is our mind-set about the world, and the part we play effects our dealings. The social influences of an individual are viewed acceptable in guiding the self’s behavior. The concept of self is broken into three components; self efficacy, concept, and our self-esteem. After reviewing these concepts it becomes clearer in appreciating who I am, and my place in society. I can share my own experiences that have contributed to my social development. It gives me more knowledge and confidence of myself.…
We consider as a team this could have been better by making action plans and making deadlines so everyone could have been more focused on the project. We could have saved more time by updating those who sometimes missed the meetings and that could have developed them in the future to make sure to attend the meeting as its part of the contribution and punctuality.…
This reflection will discuss personal diffidence and how it has influenced my academic studies, including my practice within placement settings. Grow up as a child I didn’t have this labyrinth and exciting childhood, like others did. We didn’t crawl our way up from sewers also. I grow up with a normal family who loved there kids, family of five, with two brothers. I love where my is at and heading to. My whole family as known as a hard work, from my Grandma and Grandpa as field workers to my generation as engineers and doctors. Each generation of my family worked hard to push the next generation to be better and thrive to improve their way of life to never settle for less. My family has a little sang “ To always be better than the next person.” I was born in Bakersfield, CA with a loving mom and dad, Aurora, and J.R Gonzales. I have two brother Ryan who is 20 and my fraternal twin Kyle is 23. Growing up was a little hard for me. I always got in trouble. I don’t know why I would do dumb things, considering my dad was a military man. When I got in trouble he would always enforcing his law, if you get my drift. I guess you can say growing up I was the screw up. My parents never gave up on me; they always pushing me to be the best, to be better than them. To go to college and have faith in God. Steve Jobs makes a point saying, “You have to trust in something — your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.” (1) I my put my trust in God trusting in him hoping everything will just fall in place. Theres two main like things that always crosses my mind. One is to how to improve myself in everything mostly education. Last is death, how would you remember after your dead.…
From this course on human development, I have understood a great amount of information that will help me in my future. I have thoughts about my life’s desires and needs from society from Erikson’s stages of life. My future holds many challenges for me and the material I learned will help influence the choices I make and hopefully will lead me to a successful path in life. From the material I have learned that will help me professionally, I still have time to expand my knowledge on what it means to be employed. I accept the severity of what my career will hold for me. When it comes to my family and social life, I am still experimenting because I am still young and realizing that there is more in the world. For when I grow up, I have learned ways to raise my children properly while still being able to maintain a stable career.…
