Jordan is a really sweet and quite boy who is happy to play by himself or alongside his peers. He really enjoys playing with his teachers a lot and I spend a lot of time engaging him in various activities in our classroom. He seems to be quite settled in the Koala Room, and he is confident to chose his own play and do his own thing. We are presently working with Jordan to help him develop strategies and skills which enable him to play associatively with his peers and develop friendships. For example, I always invite Jordan to join learning experiences or games that are already taking place, and encourage him and others to take turns and share resources. He is also aware of his own well being in regard to going outside to play. He understands that he must put his shoes and hat on and apply sunscreen before going outside. Jordan does however have to be reminded to take his jumper off when hot or put it back on when cold. Gross Motor Skills -Jordan is developing his gross motor skills, he can navigate the challenge course mostly unaided although he does need help to walk across and jump off planks. He can run, jump, throw, climb, and catch balls if directed how to hold his hands. Jordan is developing his spatial awareness and needs to be reminded to look for clear space before jumping off planks and look ahead for obstacles and other children when running around the playground. Perceptual Motor Skills – Jordan is developing his perceptual motor skills through throwing, catching, tipping, pouring, and tracking sand/water through funnels. Perceptual-motor skills are important as they teach Jordan to train his mind and muscles to work together as a team, this is important for later literacy
