I would offer as many options or choices to them so that they feel some sense of ability and their distress levels reduce and finally if their issues were to complex and were out of my professionalism I would gently reassure the service user that I will ask my manager for further guidance and ensure the service user is able to access the required support that is appropriate to their personal
