Everyone knows what depression is, or at least they think they do, but, no one really knows what depression is unless they have it or have battled with it. Depression is defined as a serious mood disorder that involves emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and physical changes severe enough to disrupt a person’s ordinary functioning. People with depression always believe something bad is going to happen, they go through life with the constant feeling of low grade happiness, they want to be happy but the depression literally will not let them. It’s not imaginary or “all in your head” and it’s more than just feeling “down”, it’s a real and serious illness caused by changes in hormone levels, medical conditions (say suffering from cancer or being…
I had many experience while performing my duty. One of them was very significant to me that a psychiatric patient assaulted me and punched my head and face. I lost one tooth and had concussion. I did not hit back the patient who assaulted me, and prevented further injury would happen to me and the patient. This was a good experience I had while serving the psychiatric patients that I kept calm and blocked the assault with preventive…
To accomplish my goal I did some refreshment my nursing skill and producers before clinical. I reviewed my nursing skill and procedure to refresh my brain about how to administer parental injection, the right site for IM and S/C, and size and length of needles. I reviewed my health and physical assessment videos and review my nursing skill notes how to assess head to toe and pain scale, Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) and CIWA Scale which helped me a lot to refresh my skills. Also, I looked up my previous clinical worksheets which reminded me some nursing diagnosis and…
Initially when I meet my client for the first initial session, I would like to keep in mind the purpose for the counseling session, and establish some attainable goals for both myself and the client. Although, as a counselor meeting a client for the first time may be awkward in the beginning (Laureate Education, 2010d).…
No one ever had that difficult conversation with me about the realities of depression and what it can do to a person. F. Scott Fitzgerald, a great American novelist, once said, “The loneliest moment in someone’s life is when they are watching their whole world fall apart, and all they can do is stare blankly.” Depression has the habit of destroying the lives it touches. It brings feelings of self-hatred, worthlessness, and apathy to those who get brushed by it. Worse of all, it brings comfort. A ridiculously miserable comfort that, like running through water, makes it hard to move. It is more inviting to allow oneself to get lost in the current, and drift away with the waves.…

My emotional wellness has come so far for my goals. I have learned to accept myself for my body and my mind. On Halloween, I wore my Wonder Woman costume without a second thought. Every day I dress up for myself and no longer care about the opinion of others when I look in my closet. My value always counted on my grades and test scores since elementary school. These days I still value my grades, but do not value my personal worth solely on them.…

Being left to fight alone is devastating for anyone suffering from any form of mental illness. If a person you know seems to be struggling then reach out and connect with them. I can guarantee that showing that you care will make a huge difference and possibly save that person’s life. When you find yourself in a position to help someone, feel blessed because God is answering that person’s prayer through you. It can something as simple as the mixed CD I made for Bob to listen in his taxi, it just shows him that he is loved and that someone still cares about him.…
I have been raised to think or dress a certain way because that?s what family taught me. Others can agree the same. It?s not until you reach your teens is when you start to rebel or think outside of what your family has taught you. A person doesn?t even have to be in their teens to rebel. I rebelled against my family's wishes which they did not tolerate. I am half of the girl who wears all black and is all about destruction, the other half of the girl is about color and smiles. When we?re together we make the girl people see.…
Most adults and many children and adolescents have a few bad days here and there, sometimes three or four in a row. When this happens, your mood is bad, you feel like jumping on people for nothing. You sleep, but you do not rest. You eat, but you are not hungry. Your life is one big chore. Everything that was fun is work and what usually is work is like walking with lead boots. Often you have stomach aches, headaches, aching, dizziness and other symptoms, but the doctors can not find anything wrong. When family and friends want to talk, you do not listen. If you can, you stay alone and wish they would all just go away. And you think about what you have got to do, and you wish you could put it off for ever. And about what you have done, and about what could go wrong, and how you could never live like this for 30 more years.…
