In the past six weeks, I have learned that when reading critically I need to take my time, and take a step back from the obvious, to fully understand the purpose of the author's tone and word choice. In addition, I’ve learned to expand my mind when it comes to the different types of writing styles. Not all authors are straightforward, some are more complex. That level of complexity can come from the day to day life the author lives. Your life can play a big role in what you put on paper and they way you put it. I feel like the drafting process was a very helpful factor in writing my paper. It gave me time to write what I needed to say, get feedback and then process a much stronger writing. Although I want to be stronger in the brainstorming part of the drafting process. I have skipped that part and just when straight to write, and I think that was a big mistake on my end. I also want to word on better word choice, such as eliminating words like “because”, “very”, “but” etc. I want to get stronger in explaining more in detail what I am trying to get across with saying the same thing over and over. And finally, most importantly, my grammar and punctuation needs a lot of improvement.
Over the past six weeks I have matured, I feel as though I am not as lazy when sitting down to writing, I can tell a story better now than week one, and I think deeper when reading . Even still, there are things that I need to continue to work on to better all aspects of my reading and writing
