Reflective Essay: My Transfer To A Community College
ACA 122 has enlightened me on the process of transferring to a four year university, and transferring successfully. Though, certain aspects I had previously perceived were not changed, such as there is a list of transfer classes that that particular college would like for you to take, and visiting the college and certain employees there can only have a positive impact on your success at that school. The information I did previously have was built upon from the beginning of the class. Perspectives I had on transferring from a two year to a four year university changed slightly, became more distinct, and information I had no idea about, was presented.
The perspective I held concerning the transfer from a community college to a university, is that you select the classes required from that university and when you have completed them, send them over to the school and apply to the college. What has

This section is ideas/concepts that I’ve learned that will help prepare me for the transfer, and life on that university. The biggest idea I grasped from this class, is to create a class schedule plan for the remaining years until I’ve reached my bachelors. When that has been completed, consult my advisor, and get the plan approved. This class has benefited me in ways I didn’t understand could happen upon entering the class.
Perspectives changed. Clear ideas presented. Newly grasped information. These are the three aspects that this class has presented. I now know how to successfully transfer from a two year community college, to a four year university. Also, I better understand how to use time management, study skills, and approach advisors for help. Lastly, this class helped push me towards the majors I want to receive. This class has positively affected my life as an aspiring university

This classes teaches you how to be successful in college and ways to do that. I've learned so many strategies from the On Course textbook. I was lacking in motivation, so I tried the formula for motivation and found my motivation level to be lower than I would like it to be. My value on my education was a 5. My expectation on my education to be a 5. And my motivation was a 25 which was very low. To improve my score and try to make it increase I set goals using DAPPS which is dating my goals, making them achievable, positive and personal, and specific. I also created my life plan. The life plan made me realize my dreams as a student and what my short term goals were. Setting goals using DAPPS really encouraged me and made me want to accomplish them. Dating my goals made it feel like a challenge and that made me want to go for it more. Achievable made me think that I can do this and that there's no way that I can't. A positive goal was easy for me to think of. Lastley, being specific made me visualize what the outcome of my goal will look like. Using the DAPPS made my motivation…

I made the right choice to attend in Kalamazoo Community College because even that I’m new in college and I still don’t know a lot about what college is about, what benefits I might obtain through my college life or how is college system. Going to college is a very essential step in my life. I’ve always said that education is very important. I have to confess, that KVCC is not my dream college, because it is not a 4 year college. I do want to get my bachelor degree to do so I need to transfer to any university, if my economic resources help me into this process I might attend to Western Michigan University (my college dream). Unfortunately I do not have the Kalamazoo Promise to attend to WMU right away, that’s why I chose KVCC as my 2 year…

Having lived in a variety of countries, I have developed a level of interest and compassion for various communities and environments. I often felt like an outsider when my family and I would initially move to a new city. The unique experience of being able to look into a community or society from the outside allowed myself to not only appreciate but also analyze my surroundings. Growing up in South Korea, California and Louisiana, due to my father’s work, allowed me to appreciate different cultures while developing an awareness for the greater, overarching society of the world. I was able to be a part of the individual culture of each distinct community while developing an appreciation for the way in which all communities are connected.…

I had already started the process by having my transcripts transferred from another technical college. It was the beginning of August and I was waiting to hear how many of my credits would transfer. This also happened to be the time of the Wisconsin State Fair. My husband and I attended as we have every year. That trip to the fair changed my course of education in a way I never would have imagined.…

I would like to transfer once I get my associate degree at a community college because I feel I am ready to move forward with my education. I currently am enrolled at Cabrillo Community College, which is, for the most part, a transfer prep college. Community College has prepared me to study at a University and I hope to continue my studies as far as I can go. As I grew up, I was interested in a wide range of subjects and never found one thing I was truly passionate about. When I started at community college, I was set on a computer science major because I knew I was computer proficient and enjoyed spending my free time figuring out programs. I struggled a great deal in the major. As I realized that I was not passionate about programming, I…

The new community college for full-time students will not provide a degree in all areas, “All first-year students would be required to take a predetermined core curriculum and would then be limited to their choice of about 12 majors” (Moltz, 2009). The majors that were proposed will be in pre-career fields, which will be designed to assist students with transferability. The transferability requirements to four-year institutions have increased throughout the years and it is important that the two-year college focuses on making sure that student are academically on track to transfer. At times, community college students do not complete a bachelor’s due to the lack of preparation for what is expected of them once they transfer. The curriculum proposed requires full time enrollment and taking more than 12 units per semester, which will prepare students for a better transition to a four-year…

The single most impactful experience in my life is attending Ventura Community College. Nothing has hurt me more. In high school I had taken AP and IB classes and had finished within the top ten percent of my class but I had no idea what I wanted to do. I applied to some schools that I considered to be mediocre so that I could continue swimming, but as the application deadlines ended and most of my friends were being accepted to places such as UCLA, UCSB, and even Harvard, I had realized that I wanted a greater challenge and possibly a greater reward. It was too late, I was going to community college.…

Hi, I’m Suzzana, I think you know that by now. I’m currently attending Camden County College. I am transferring because as you might know, most community colleges are two year schools. Community College has been great for me. I was never achievement orientated when I was in grade school. I was enrolled in an alternative school since the 8th grade. I was behind in my academics, but I would like to say I compensate in life experience. When I was younger around the age of 9 I was bullied a lot. I was chubby and I increasingly gained weight at that time. My influx of weight was the baggage of my emotions and my families struggles. My parents divorced when I was 10, my mom was escorted out by police. I only had my dad for a year. Then, I had missed…

In the beginning of the year when joining this class I thought it would just a class on designing things. I learned and understand as the course goes on that this class helps me to interact with other classmates. Creating more confidents in me, improving my writing skills, and my social skills is what I am also learning from this class. The bridge project I liked the most because it had me realized how important a group project is and how one person makes a difference in a group. Writing about my personal goals and reflective essay, made me see how much I have improved in my writing and learning. Most of all this class helped me learn more about the Ethics, Diversity, Critical, and Communication that we will need in life.…
