Registered Nurse Personal Statement
At a young age of 10, when my parents took me to the hospital for my check up, I remember my dad used to lecture on how I should help people by saying “I want you to make a habit of helping peoples” and he wanted me to pursue my career in the health sector. Everyone has got it's own definition for the word “happiness”, for me personally helping people towards a better health and being there for them in every step gives me a mental satisfaction.
So I want to pursue my career as a registered Nurse because I know how important it is that people should receive good care when they are at their most vulnerable. I want to feel that I have helped someone to regain their health, independence and dignity - regardless of their sickness. I hope that obtaining a bachelor in nursing will be the beginning of a lifelong career that will really make a difference.

Alpha Mansaray Family Nurse Practitioner Program Wilmington University Statement of Goals As a child growing up in country of Sierra Leone during times of civil unrest, I watched my grandmother who lacked the ability to read and write care of an entire village of people because of the compassion she had for she fellow Africans. As she is much older now and no longer resides in Sierra Leone, she always reminds me of her story every now and then of how a young African girl without the ability to read or write was chosen by the U.N. and trained in the field of nursing, and with the amount of knowledge she acquired from them she was able to save countless lives during times of civil war. This passion has been passed down from generation to generation with my mother becoming and nurse and I, myself following in their footsteps and becoming part of the profession. There has always been a yearn within me to enter a profession such as nursing where I could provide compassionate care to those that may be going through uncertain times, and to one day return to Sierra Leone and have the ability to provide care to thousands of my fellow Africans that may not have access to healthcare.…

“Quack! Quack!” she exclaimed. “Yes it is bath time!” I replied as I gave my patient her nightly bath at my very first job as a nursing assistant for disabled adults. I remember initially being so excited to learn new procedures, medications and diseases. However, what I ultimately valued most during this experience was forming trusting, ongoing relationships with my patients (and learning that “Quack” meant bath!). The inimitable bond formed caring for these individuals motivated me to seek out a career in which I can provide meaningful and personalized care over time. Advanced practice nursing as a family nurse practitioner will allow me the opportunity to provide primary care services to individuals with chronic conditions beginning in childhood…
