Relationship Between Fire And Ice
Fire and Ice According to “Webster's dictionary, literacy is defined as “ the ability to read and write and the knowledge that relates to a specific subject” (Webster's Dictionary). From this it was learned that literacy practice is anything that involves reading and writing that is used in free time and is non-academic. Literacy that happens in school such as reading a text book, writing notes, and studying would be considered academic literacy. Reading magazines, writing in a journal, or studying your Bible; would be considered non-academic literacy practices. When choosing a profession one usually goes with something they love. If you love to read, you might choose to be a teacher, a librarian, or a lawyer. If you do not enjoy reading, …show more content…
Erin Herrmann. She is the head athletic trainer/ physical therapist at Putnam City North High School. She attended college at the University of Oklahoma and very proudly calls herself alumni. She has a passion for helping people and I am very blessed to call her a friend. I choose to interview Herrmann- that’s what I call her- because she has already made it through the program and she has a lot of experience. She does her job with an excellent spirit. By that I mean she doesn’t half heart anything that she does and she treats every patient with respect.
In our interview she stated, “I'm extremely passionate about my job. I love working with athletes and love sports more than anything(except my dogs)” (Herrmann). This helps her to stand out in her profession and has helped her to obtain many awards like being the All-State Athletic Trainer six years in a row. She has also implemented several student athletic training programs and works to bring “things to PCN such as a concussion protocol for the district and lightening protocol for the district” (Herrmann). She works very hard to ensure that Putnam City North gets the top of the line rehabilitation products and that we take care of our athletes to the best of our ability. It has been my great honor to study under Herrmann and learn from from her. She is an amazing example and has helped me to realize that I can reach my goals just like she

These things are all relatable to her profession. She runs because as an athletic trainer she lives a very active lifestyle that requires her to be in her best shape so that she can help the athletes to be in the best shape they can be. Playing with her dogs helps to release stress after a long day or a tough game. Playing golf and watching sports relate because you have to know how to help every individual athlete. An injury on a football player might require completely different therapy than it would for a cheerleader with the exact same injury. For every injury a injury reports is required.

The Main Literacy: Injury Reports

A injury report is a written report is the main literacy used in athletic training and physical therapy; it is a written report of what happened to the athlete and what their therapy plan is going to be. It is the bulk of the literacy done in physical therapy and serves a very important purpose. It is important because if the main physical therapist is not there to therapy the athlete that day, the substitute therapist can read the report and follow the written schedule of therapy and add to it as they see needed.
In conclusion, physical therapy did have a use for literacy that just slowly goes away the farther you are from starting your career. Other professions use literacy all throughout and it is easy to relate a literacy practice to

Loving sports my whole life and having an Uncle that played Division 1 baseball, I often heard stories and learned about great athletes such as Ty Cobb, and other famous athletes such as Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Jackie Robinson they all amazed me as a kid and I looked up to them and wanted to acquire the same status in sports as they did. Often you don’t here the stories behind the athlete’s lives how they grew up, what they had to overcome, or the problems they never really got over. It interests me to learn the person behind the athlete. As stated in my career timeline, my goal is to become an athletic director for a high school. I believe this job will provide myself with personal fulfillment that I would not achieve anywhere else. For this interview I reached out to a family friend that personally knows the interim athletic director at Gordon State College, Gary Sharpe. Before holding his current position, Mr. Sharpe spent ten years as an assistant baseball coach for Gordon State College. Prior to his collegiate career he served as the head baseball coach for Upson-Lee and coordinator for the Georgia Dugout All-Star Games. Needless to say that Mr. Sharpe has crucial sport management experience from working at the collegiate and high school levels.…

The female athlete triad is made up of three medical conditions that are becoming increasingly common in active teen girls: Eating disorders, Amenorrhea or lack of menstrual periods and Osteoporosis or low bone mass. Low-calorie diets are usually the first sign of eating disorders. Along with diets, excessive exercise or obsession with exercising can also be another sign of the Female athlete triad. Teenage girls that are lower weight but exercise constantly are the individuals with the higher risk. Teen girls who cut back on eating habits also called “cutting weight” for specific sporting events are more likely to have amenorrhea. Sports that are heavily linked with triads are mostly gymnastics, swimming and ice skating, all sports that weight determines much. After the production of amenorrhea, amenorrhea can ultimately lead to the triad itself.…

Lastly, let’s talk about Stephanie Braden from Austin HS, let’s start with how she organizes her year. She organizes her year easy for football and contest season, her football season is short and she usually finishes contest either the end of February first weekend in March. She holds tryouts in March to start practicing with her new team as they do a dance in Spring Show to make their debut to the high school. One thing that I don’t agree with her on is the date party that they hold. I don’t really agree with this because a lot can go wrong with this like alcohol and would be much easier to save money and hold a nice banquet. Lastly, one thing that really resonated with me was that this job is a job of sacrifice and dealing with all types…

    Physical Therapy

The profession of physical therapy intrigues me mainly because physical therapy has had a positive impact on my life and I want to be able to have a positive impact on others. Over the years I have had my fair share of injuries and have been fortunate enough to have a physical therapist work on me. The fact that my physical therapist was able to minimize my pain and expedite my recovery made me extremely appreciative of the profession. Physical therapy is an essential part of athletics, which is a large part of my life, and greatly benefits the sports world. Without physical therapists injuries would be much more detrimental and would therefore decrease the attractiveness of competing in a sport. In addition, I would love to work in a professional field pertaining to sports because they have had such a large impact on my life and have shaped who I am today. Physical therapy has many benefits outside of sports as well, including general physical activity. I lead a very active lifestyle and can’t imagine life without physical activity due to an injury, disease or illness. By providing rehabilitative care for individuals of all activity levels physical therapists allow them the freedom to be physically active. I believe that in order to live life to the fullest, your body needs to be able to take you wherever you want to go. I can’t think of a better profession than having a beneficial impact on others lives and helping them enjoy their lives. In addition to these personal reasons there are outside factors that also make the physical therapy profession appealing. Once you begin working, your job security increases greatly because injuries, illnesses and diseases will always be prevalent in society. This is very comforting to have the peace of mind that you won’t be replaced and it allows you to enjoy your job more. Also, most physical therapists work regular hours, which allows you to enjoy your time off work and not be…
