Religion & Philosophy - Belief About Deity
WHAT DO CHRISTIANS BELIEVE GOD IS LIKE?

• Christians often find describing God difficult because God is unlike anything else that exists. Everyday language is all about ordinary things. God is not ordinary – God is often described as being HOLY. This means special.
• Christianity is a MONOTHEISTIC religion (this means they believe there is only one God.)
• Christians believe that GOD IS ETERNAL. This means that he has no beginning or no end.
• Christians believe that GOD is OMNIPRESENT. This means that he can be everywhere at the same time.
• Christians believe that GOD is OMNIPOTENT. This means that he is all powerful and can do anything.
• Christians believe that GOD is OMNISCIENT. This means that he knows everything.
• Christians believe that GOD is BENEVOLENT. This means that he is good, kind and loving.

THE DOCTRINE OF THE TRINITY

• Sometimes it is hard to understand how God can be the CREATOR of the universe and still be interested in the lives of all individuals. Christians have come up with an idea to help explain how this works, it is called the TRINITY.
• The TRINITY splits God into three.
1. GOD THE FATHER – This part of GOD is responsible for creating the world and is like a parent to his creation.
2. GOD THE SON – This part of GOD is Jesus. This part of God came to earth to show people the right way to live. He was killed on the cross so that people can have a better relationship with GOD.
3. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT (sometimes called GOD the holy ghost) – After Jesus died Christians believe that the Holy Spirit came to earth to give them strength, courage and comfort. The Holy Spirit is sometimes shown as a dove.

The Incarnation

• INCARNATION means GOD made Human. Christians believe that GOD made himself human in the form of JESUS.
• They would say that if you want to know what GOD is like look to JESUS because they are one in the same.
• If you know what JESUS was like, you will know what GOD

The Christian believes that God created the universe and its basic life forms. According to scripture, when God originally made life, He considered it "good" and perfect (Genesis 1:25). However, the Bible also shows that the perfect state God established on earth did not last long. Scripture recognizes the existence of evil and suffering in nature, and points the finger at God Himself as being responsible. Genesis chapter 3 reveals several curses God placed on the serpent, on Eve, and on nature.…

Christians see, and their belief is strengthened through what they believe is God's creations around them. Individuals think they're created in God's image. "So God created man in his image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created him them" (Genesis 1:27, The New King James Version). They see God as rational and intelligent and that he impressed his image upon the hearts and souls of human beings. People believe that since they are an image of God that they are connected to him and can unlock the secrets that this universe holds. It is said that man is created in God’s image, which means that these individuals don't believe that we evolved from lower primates. People don't understand that we are a random result of development through evolutions. Individuals feel that we were created with a purpose from God. God gave man dominion over his creations which means that all things were created in a particular order and is to be governed by man. With that being said, medicine, art, politics, society, ecology, exploration, economics, philosophy, mathematics, education, etc fall under the domain of man responsibility. Christians just like Muslims believe there is only one God. Its followers believe that God sent his only begotten son to the earth. Whoever believes in him shall have life in heaven. Jesus Christ was born from a virgin mother Mary, she knew no man. An angel sent a message to Mary that she is chosen to have the son of God. He was raised and lived to show the world of God’s love and to preach God’s teachings. Because there was so much sin in the world, Jesus was sacrificed . He was crucified on a cross and died so that all who believed in him sins shall be washed away. All those who believe and live their lives according to his teachings shall have a place in heaven.
