Remembrance Day Research Paper

Poppies glow like bright little lamps on our warm coats in November. They whisper like long-lost voices from the forgotten fields of Flanders. The most significant wars in our world's history symbolized in many countries, by a tiny little flower. If you ask this generation “Why this simple little flower represents so much of our history?” Many do not know that the color red of a poppy’s petals symbolizes the blood lost by victims and casualties in the conflict. Many kids listen to the reason to celebrate Remembrance day, but do they understand the actual meaning? Do they feel a moment of silence and wearing a poppy on November 11th is “just what you do”?
Remembrance Day means something different to everyone but I don't feel enough emphasizes is taught to today's generation. Kids find it boring to stand around in the cold November air listening to sombre music and speeches of respect. Maybe if people in general would “ stop to smell the poppies” there would be less continuous fighting and terrorism today.Wars of our past soldiers apparently never taught this
Today technology fills the world with ‘information’ that is useless. In fact, social media is the #1 cause for acts of hate in the 21st century because it is easier to hide behind the screen of your computer than to hide inside a trench like the men and women who initially fought for our freedom did. Instead of posting that picture or retweeting something that won't matter in a few days time, we could put social media to good use and help people understand how we can memorialize what happened during those times. People need to know that veterans were not the only ones who endured the pain of war, as war has no boundaries for age and sex. Mothers, children, wives, husbands and families also suffered these terrible times. Is this what we want to happen
