Composition 1 Compare and contrast anorexia and bulimia
Eating disorders have the highest rate of any psychiatric disorder. Anorexia nervosa and bulimia are the most know disorders. They’re both the effect of one’s body weight and image and concerning of food. One in ten Americans suffers these disorders. Statistics show that the disorder rate is increasing ("123 helpme!com" )
Anorexia is the most know eating disorder. They seem to think that they are overweight, more than likely they are underweight. They think they need to have the perfect body, compared to others in today society. It is stereotype that only females deal with anorexia, this not true at all. However, females seem to be affected more. Anorexia usually begins when becoming a teenager; it is much more common in females than males. There are two know types of anorexia. (Smith) . One is the restricting type; with this type he or she tries to avoid calories as much as possible. The second type is purging where its direct weight loss. This disorder can be very hard to overcome to the point a person needs treatment. Eventually, your body will get used to restricting food and doing what it can to keep food out. Some people with anorexia nervosa may also engage in extreme dieting, excessive exercise, self-induced vomiting. There are physical symptoms such as; insomnia, dry skin, irregular heartbeats and low blood pressure. (Eating Disorders). The emotional disorders are known as; lack of emotion, being in a depressed mood and less interest in sex. Those who are affected by anorexia are also binge-eating. A person, dealing with anorexia, doesn’t know when enough is enough. Getting medical treatment for anorexia, may be getting hospitalized or outpatient treatment. (Smith).
Bulimia, is when someone is overeating, and usually is purging (self-induced vomiting), and misusing or medications that cause increased production of urine, fasting, or excessive
