Bronzino is best known for his series work of the duke and duchess as well as their court. The works have a great attention to detail. In his Portrait of Cosimo I de’ Medici, Cosimo is shown in his younger years and depicts his dominance. This portrait fits into the manneristic period because its attention
to detail and stylistic features.
One vocabulary term that I learned during my research was a fuller in depth meaning of the word Mannerism. Before researching this project I had a very bare understanding of this term. As I researched my artist in depth I found my self looking into the mannerist time period elements. Through my research I learned about “mannerists” which we categorized as painters who exaggerated and distorted characters of their artwork. An interesting fact that I came across was this “unsettling” artwork was ignored until the 20th century.
