During World War II, amphetamines were given to American and British pilots, sailors, tankers, scouts, as a means to relieve fatigue and to increase vigilance. German soldiers actively used methamphetamine ("Pervitin"), but only orally and in small doses.
After the war, passion and widespread amphetamines began in Japan by US soldiers, then demobilized soldiers in the 50-ies of amphetamines spread in the US and later in Europe.
