Resident Assistant Argument Essay
The University of Iowa should be a place where everyone can feel safe and happy. It should be a home. It is part of the Resident Assistant's job to make this safe environment a reality. The University of Iowa is diverse, and this should be celebrated, especially in the dorms where many new students live.
It is of the utmost importance that a Resident Assistant helps foster an environment of cooperation and acceptance for their floor. The dorm floor is a community, and communities thrive best when we accept each other's beliefs.
There is so much hatred in the world we live in, but it is overpowered when we show acceptance and love towards our community. When we feel empathy, we become better people. In a place where we are introduced to people

A resident assistant is more than just someone who checks the rooms and monitor the doors. A resident assistant is also a peer, someone who can mentor and help, while also making sure the residents are following the roles. I completely believe a Resident assistant is needed on college campuses. The position is significant because in college students aren’t surrounded by their parents and maybe only a few friends from back home, so really they may feel like they’re by themselves, so having a resident assistant can provide students with a tool, this tools being experience when it comes to campus, programs, classes, and even making…

The resident advisor position is a unique and powerful position on any campus; but it is particularly appealing to me on Union’s campus. My first real connection with anyone outside of my AOP class, of which I spent a majority of the summer, with was my RA. On a campus so small and compact as Union, an RA is truly an invaluable resource to ask questions of. This is because not only can they answer them directly, but if they are unable to, they possess the resources to turn you to someone who could. My RA became the main point that I referred to for any question, and in the end became a close friend. Therefore, I believe the first appealing aspect about being an RA is the leadership opportunity and the…

What do people think of when they hear the words “my RA”, some shudder in disgust their faces turning down as they recall a negative experience, while others smile and lift their heads remembering the positive interactions between them and their resident advisor (RA) their freshman year of college. I wish to be a Resident Assistant because I am a very responsible and reliable worker. This is proven through my success in academics while participating in different extracurricular activities. I kept my GPA above 3.0 and made the dean's list past two semesters while I juggled with the outside activities such as the Business Club and the University dance team. I have had various types of jobs including a cashier at a grocery store for over three years and a waitress at a restaurant. Indeed, service learning does serve for a well-rounded education. Especially while in college, service learning can familiarize students with companies and professionals in their chosen fields of study in their communities. I am in school to earn a Bachelors Degree in Information Technology. I would love to be immersed into a service learning program to not only gain experience in my field, but to complete a project within my community with companies that I may look to for a job upon graduation. As the article states, these students "achieve personal growth and develop a sense of civic-mindedness while addressing a community need." This type of civic engagement not only offers career preparation, but a chance to become more knowledgeable of the interaction they could have in their communities. People can look forward to this service learning and find some reward in doing it. The article goes on to say that colleges who offer service learning are seeing a spike in interest that was not present before. Many medical degrees require many observation hours for the purpose of "on-the-job learning." Why should this type of learning and experience not be shifted to other degree options in colleges nationally? Service Learning enhances formal education.…
