Residential Sprinklers
When we look at the public’s misconception about residential sprinklers we look at ways of answering their concerning questions. Listed below are just a few of these questions the public has concerning this issue:
Doesn’t my smoke alarm provide enough protection? Actually smoke alarms just notify occupants of possible dangers, but do nothing to extinguish the fire.
Aren’t home sprinklers expensive and make house prices unaffordable? Actually home sprinklers cost the home owner about $1.35 per square foot sprinkled and many home owners spend more than that on upgrades to carpet and building materials.
Do home sprinklers leak or activate accidently? Leaks from home sprinklers are very rare and you will more than likely get a leak in your everyday

One of the most vital aspects of fire protection is to recognize a budding fire emergency as soon as possible, and to notify the facility's tenants and proper emergency groups. This is the primary function of all fire detection and alarm systems. Depending on the expected fire situation, structures and type, quantity and occupants (health care, business, residential, industrial, and day care), and criticality of contents and mission, these systems can offer multiple key functions to aid in the safety of the occupants (Department of Veterans Affairs (Office of Construction & Facilities Management) , 2011). Their first two functions are the most vital. The first being a way to identify a fire hazard as it transpires through either manual or automatic methods. Secondly, it alerts the structures occupants to an imminent fire hazard and the need to withdraw from the building. Another common function in a non single family structure is to send an emergency alarm notification to the local emergency response organizations. Some systems are even designed to sensitive systems to…

There are many avenues that the fire service can utilize to reduce the injuries, deaths, cost and risks that fire poses to firefighters and those in the community. Among these numerous avenues that are at the fire service’s disposal, in my opinion, the most effective is the presence of fire suppression systems in homes. With that being said, I’m in support of requiring the installation of fire sprinklers in homes, for while there may be an initial financial hit, there are far more pros than cons; such as reducing injury, death and cost of fires.…

Some people were even able to light their water on fire which should not be able to be done. In one instance, a gentleman turned on a sink in his garage and light a lighter next to the water and it ignited fairly quickly and it produced a large flame. Even news stations broadcasted on air that people in the community had unsafe groundwater and that it was tested and said to have been contaminated due to natural gas. People repeatedly…

This article tells about how many people in Colorado had been evacuated due to the raging wildfires that have been happening. I personally live in the Denver area and we have not had any wildfires down here. Unfortunately due to the dry weather we were not able to light any of our own fireworks for the 3rd year in a row. The fires have gotten so bad that the flames engulfed a group of firefighters trying to put out the fires and 19 of the group had lost their lives. The heavy rains that we have gotten over the past weeks have helped a lot with putting out the fires. Going back to the fireworks, we were still able to enjoy our 4th of July fireworks at the usual firework shows. We still had a very fun 4th of July without being pyros ourselves.…
