Introduction
In this modern era, state sovereignty and territorial disputes are a main source of conlict and violence in the international system . States have gone to war more frequently over territory than any other issue. Commonly, Territorial disputes often trigger strong emotion among parties. The Senkaku/Diayudao islet dispute arose since the early 1970. In 2011 the tensions over the Senkaku Islands—Diaoyutai islet to the Chinese—have continued to escalate in action-reaction dynamics ever since the Japanese government nationalized three of the islands (Ikegami, 2013).
Although territorial disputes have been much studied, the application of GMCR analysis in peace research and conflict resolution is still relatively unexplored. Chung (2007) already use “two-level game”analysis of Senkaku/Diayudao islet dispute and he only focus the interaction between governments and domestic nationalist groups, the role of institutions, and the strategies of negotiators to explain the development of the territorial disputes. Due to that reason, this study is using GMCR for modelled Senkaku/Diayudao islet
