Respect And Disrespect Essay
Respect, to me, meant the way that you treat yourself and your environment in a positive way.
When I looked this word up on dictionary.com, it was defined as the condition of being esteemed or honored, and esteem for or a sense of the worth of excellence of a person.
Now that I look back at the word, it isn't a verb meaning the process of doing something nice for yourself and your environment. It is how well you and your environment are kept up. Or it is how you hold them in admiration or honor.
Showing respect is showing that you care about something. To show regard for something or someone.

Disrespect means to show a lack of courtesy, or being impolite.
Basically, if you violate people's expectations of how you are supposed to behave towards

You can say please and thank you to show appreciation for what they are giving you and providing.
Do not interrupt and adult when they are speaking because it is very rude. When you interrupt someone, you are showing poor manners.
Using foul and slang language is disrespectful and inappropriate. Confusing adults by using slang terms and and using profanity is unacceptable.
Offer help to them. Just because they do not ask for help doesn't mean they don't need it.
Ask questions if you are not sure what an adult has told you to do. When you ask questions, you show that you care to get the information correct.
Be honest because when you lie to an adult, you are violating their trust in you and it could create obstacles in your relationship.
Remember the information they give you. When an adult gives you information it is usually valuable and helpful so that you will not continuously repeat the same mistakes.

Having respect for yourself is just as important as having respect for others and your environment. Self-respect will give you a sense of confidence and you will love yourself more, but you have to earn self respect just as you have to win it from

From past experiences I have learned the real meaning of respect. This word is more powerful than one can imagine. With respect comes unselfishness. When people respect others, they are treated equally. My mother and father always told me to be tactful in the way I treated others, so I would also be respected. It has worked in the past and will always hold true in the future. If someone respects another with proper judgment, people feel good inside which gives them a sense of integrity. When I give respect and witness how it makes others feel, I feel like more of a person. I feel proud. Honored.…

What does respect mean to you? To me, respect means following the golden rule. It means treating others with kindness, love, generosity, and having polite manners. “Treat others as you would like to be treated.” That is the golden rule, is it not? Who wouldn’t want to be treated with kindness? Who wouldn’t want to be around someone with manners and cleanliness? Respect is being considerate to others and their feelings and beliefs. Respect isn’t just for others though, you need to respect yourself as well; take care of yourself and be presentable. If you would like to be treated with respect, you, first, need to learn to respect yourself and others. Once that is accomplished, others will learn to respect you.…

As a noun disrespect is a lack of respect, esteem, or courteous regard. Classified as a verb it means to show a lack of respect. Therefore you must take into account the route word itself. Respect is a word the same as any other but its seems to have a sense of power. One of its many defintions says a feeling of appreciative, often deferential regard; esteem. In the defintion alone it allows one to see that the word is not necessarily an action but more of a response to others actions that can than be turned into disrepect. A word like disrespect shouldn't really be seen as an action but more of an emotion. You really cant deny that this word is an emotion. You feel threatened or upsest by an action and label it under this word. By the use of your emotions to determine that this word fits the case proves that its an emotion. Theres no way one person can say its disrespect and the next could say its not. The conflict represented in this word should allow the mind to open and realize that you act off of judgement when classifying another persons actions as direspect.…
