Response to Lyrics and Personal Reflection

In this response to lyrics and personal reflection essay, I chose the song “invisible” by Taylor Swift. She is an amazing singer and songwriter. Taylor Swift has written so many songs, but I chose “invisible” because I can relate to this song a lot. She started singing when she was really young. All of her songs have some sort of story to tell, and I really enjoy listening to her music. Taylor Swifts music has a lot of meaning to it, mostly about how it was for her growing up. But this particular song is about a boy, and how he’s so into this other girl “She doesn’t even know you, She’s never going to love you” that he doesn’t even know what’s right in front of his face “And you just see right through me”. What she’s trying to say is that she loves him and he doesn’t even acknowledge it, and that they would be perfect together “We could be a beautiful miracle”. But instead she feels invisible to him, hence the name of the song. I think that this song can relate a lot to just about everyone. I bet that everyone, at least once in their lives have felt invisible to someone they have liked or possibly even loved. I know that it has happened to me before, and I see where she’s coming from. The song makes a lot of sense. I like how she put the song together, like how everything just fits. “She can’t see the way your eyes light up when you smile, she’ll never notice how you stop and stare whenever she walks by” These two lines just about sum the whole song up, in my opinion. The message to the song is that you may not see things that are right in front of your face, but they could possibly even be the best thing that could ever happen to you. What people don’t see is that they don’t look at the big picture, they just see the little things, and they think that is what’s important. And what I mean by the little things, I mean they look at appearances, what’s popular, or even what’s new.
