Resurrection Of Nazareth
The resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth is an authentic event as verified by many sources and is historically and biblically true. “After more than 700 hours of studying this subject, I have come to the conclusion that the resurrection of Jesus Christ is either one of the most wicked, vicious, heartless hoaxes ever foisted on the minds of human beings or it is the most remarkable fact of history.”Josh McDowell.
Josh McDowell said this because before he did this he was an atheist and he concluded that the resurrection was real and then converted to christianity. the burial

He appeared to over 500 at one point a huge number to be fabricated. If the Resurrection were a lie it would have died off centuries ago. The Christian Church is the largest institution of any kind in the history of humanity. This Church began with the apostles following Pentecost the year Christ rose. It has conquered empires withstood attacks inside and out and grown in spite of the sinfulness of its members because it was founded by Christ Himself and is guided and protected by the Holy Spirit. The Church like Christ is both human and divine. reasons for the resurrection
Jesus' burial cloths were left neatly folded inside, hardly the act of hurrying grave robbers Paul became Christianity's most determined missionary. He endured five floggings, three beatings, three shipwrecks, a stoning, poverty, and years of ridicule. Finally the Roman emperor Nero had Paul beheaded because the apostle refused to deny his faith in Jesus. What could make a person willingly accept even welcome such hardships?

A great deal of time would have been needed for recuperation. In His weakened condition He could not have walked the seven miles on the Emmaus road. It would have been impossible for someone to so quickly give the impression that He was the Conqueror of death and the grave. In fact it was this belief which turned the disciples around and became the foundation of the rest of their ministries. In addition there are other circumstances that need to be explained like the removal of the stone and the guard over the tomb. the stone that was rolled away was at least 2750 l.b and was rolled up hill and was in an odd position 2-3 meters away.
One of the main problems with the claim that Jesus died on the cross is that we don’t know the extent of Jesus’ injuries prior to and during the crucifixion, and we don’t know how crucifixion causes death. Another problem is that modern medical science would not make an appearance for well over a thousand years, so there was no scientific medical expert available to verify that Jesus was truly and completely dead. This is by far the most ridiculous theory ever because it is just one complete

When you are attempting to explain the resurrection of Jesus to an unbeliever it is important to stay on topic, and not be sidelined into a discussion on the inerrancy of the Bible. As Christians, we believe in our heart that while this is true, it may be difficult to expect a nonbeliever to hold to these beliefs. In order to stay on topic, we must take the “minimal facts approach”. In this approach, we are discussing information that is so “strongly attested historically that they are granted by nearly every scholar who studies the subject, even the rather skeptical ones” (Habermas & Licona, 2004, p. 44). The data selected for discussion meets two criteria: “They are well evidenced and nearly every scholar accepts them” (Habermas & Licona, 2004, p. 44).…

Chief priests and city elders of Jerusalem brought Jesus before Pilate to be trialed. Pilate ask Jesus if He was the King of the Jews and Jesus responded that he was. Jesus did not reply to any charge accused against Him and this amazed Pilate. Pilate followed the customs of the feast to release a single prisoner chosen by the crowd if they chose to condemn Jesus. The prisoner chosen was a man named Barabbas, a notorious criminal. Pilate asked the crowd which man they wanted set free: Jesus or Barabbas. The chief priests and elders had convinced the crowd to set Barabbas free and to execute Jesus, so when Pilate asked the question of who should be set free the crowd chose Barabbas. Pilate then asked what should he do to Jesus and the crowd responded with the sentence of crucifixion. Pilate could not find one thing wrong with Jesus or what he had done. Pilate found Jesus innocent and tried many times to convince the Jews that Jesus had done no harm. The crowd then said to Pilate that if he were to let the man go, then he would be no friend of Caesar because if Jesus claims to be a king then He opposes Caesar. After hearing this Pilate became fearful and handed Jesus over to the Jews to be crucified. Pilate washed his hands to show the crowd that he was innocent of this man's death. The crowd took full responsibility for Jesus' death and even put it on their children as well. Pilate…

The second fact is that Jesus’ disciples believed that He rose and appeared to them. What could transform a group of “fearful, cowering individuals who denied and abandoned Him [Jesus] at His arrest and execution into bold proclaimers of the gospel of the risen Lord” (Habermas & Licona, 2004, p. 50)? These men had nothing to gain from their claims. In fact, they remained consistent with their beliefs even in the face of beatings, torture, imprisonment, and their own martyrdom. Nine early and independent sources confirm that the disciples claimed the resurrection. These fall into three categories: the testimony of Paul about the disciples, the early church’s oral tradition, and the written works of the early church. Succinctly put, even when merely viewing the New Testament as an ancient collection of writings, there is strong evidence to assert…

Should the resurrection of Jesus be considered one of the "signs" of the Gospel? Why or why not? This by far is a very controversial debate and is tossed to and fro with the theological community. The Gospel of John does not state that the resurrection is a “sign” even though the event was miraculous in and of itself, there is no biblical evidence to back up the event as a sign. The purpose of the resurrection was not to prove that Christ was who He claimed to be rather it was necessary. A sign like raising Lazarus was not for any purpose except to help those who doubted as Thomas did to believe. [1]The apostle Paul went so far in emphasis as to argue that if there is no resurrection, there is no Gospel. All that we teach and preach today would be pointless if it had not been for the resurrection, unlike a “sign” that was not necessary for our salvation. I am not saying this because of the importance of Christianity, I am simply pointing out a fact of the difference in the two. I have never been asked this question before nor have I thought about a possible argument to back up the theory. On studying and researching into this question I would have to say I am leaning toward the fact that Christ resurrection is not a sign or miracle base on specific verses in the Bible itself. Not to say that right because it is an opinion, however as I stated above, Christ didn’t rise again as a sign to help those who did not believe. I have read that the eighth sign was called the “book of glory” being the resurrection of Christ [2] instead of the miraculous catch of the fish. [3] Leon Morris says this, the miraculous catch fish in chapter 21 would certainly qualify, except for the fact that this lies outside the public ministry of Jesus. That being said I can understand both points of view and although I lean more toward it not being a sign, the argument presented makes good sense in the fact that the catching of the fish was not public.…

The Jews started the rumor found in Matthew 28:11-15. The author of Matthew stated that, “the chief priest gave the soldiers a large sum of money, and told them you are to say, ‘his disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’” According to Groothuis, the stolen body argument can be found in other ancient writings such as those by Tertullian and Justin Martyr. Because the stolen body theory was recorded in other ancient documents, gives claim that the theory was circulating for quite some time. Some skeptics still believe the claim to be true and continue to circulate the story of a stolen…

Resurrection in Christian belief is the rising of the dead at the Last Judgment. Resurrection is most notably associated biblically with Jesus Christ. Christ’s rising from the dead three days after having been crucified on the cross is a story well known among most. It is the first ever and authentic report of a resurrection in our history. “Never before had anyone been raised from the grave in such a way as to be completely transformed and thus beyond the icy fingers of death.” (Deffinbaugh) Resurrection is a common biblical theme noted several time in the scriptures within the Old Testament and the New Testament of the Bible connecting the two.…

There is much debate as to whether humans have an immortal soul or whether they return with a resurrected body later in existence. Some would argue that we have an individual soul that is God-given, as described in Genesis 2:7 (...and He blew into his nostrils the soul). However, this is disputed when looking at the fact that Jesus did not remain dead once crucified, but rather he was resurrected after three days. The idea of a resurrection was described by Jesus in John 11 – “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die”. Jesus gives the idea that the body will be recreated by God when we rise again for judgement. This is further described in Corinthians 15, it states: “So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable”.…

    Swoon Theory

    • 942 Words

This theory claims that Jesus only temporarily fainted on the cross from exhaustion and the loss of blood, but was revived soon after his crucifixion (Kreeft 27). Another side of the theory is that the disciples thought Jesus was dead, so they buried Him alive (“False Theories Against the Resurrection of Christ”). Three days later, Jesus resurrected, then convinced his disciples that He was alive all along (“The “Swoon”, “Hallucination”, and “Contradictory Gospel Accounts” Theories of the Resurrection.”). The final argument is that Jesus’s disciples saw that Jesus had revived after 3 days, and left the tomb, which made it look like he resurrected (“The Resurrection: Fact or Fiction?”). According to the knowledge that we have in the Bible, this theory has been proven to be false. One reason that the Swoon Theory is fake is that Jesus would not have survived the Crucifixion or being buried alive (unless God wanted Him to) (Kreeft 27) because the Crucifixion and flogging that Jesus went through was too brutal for anyone to survive (i.e. blood and water poured out of Jesus’s body when he was stabbed by a spear in John 19:34) (The “Swoon”, “Hallucination”, and “Contradictory Gospel Accounts” Theories of the Resurrection.”). Another reason that the Swoon Theory is false is that it is unrealistic for humans to survive 3 full days without water (“The Resurrection: Fact or Fiction?”). In addition, Jesus’s body was…

Many people question the Bible and don’t trust it, but they refuse to look at the clear facts. I will be proving why the Bible is true based on the resurrection. My first point that proves that the Bible is true is all of the eyewitness accounts. Over 500 people saw Jesus after he had risen from the dead. The question is: What would cause these people to “lie” about such an astounding fact with nothing at stake to scare them into lying? If anything, they should have been scared of the government which would have caused them to say they didn’t catch a glimpse of Jesus.…

Jesus’ death only lasted 3 hours. When others got crucified, it lasted days. Jesus was mocked until His death, beaten many times, had to carry His own cross, and when He was put on the cross, He eventually died from suffocation because He had too much fluid in His lungs from hanging. His death was very painful but He did it for all of us. In Mark 15:39, it says, “When the centurion who stood facing Him saw how He breathed his last he said, Truly this man was the Son of God!”. His death proved to everyone that He, Jesus was the Son of…

The resurrection of the dead is an important concept for Christians today. Without it, we would have no hope for the future if it were just as nihilism says where we are buried and that it the end there is no meaning to death or life. Yet the concept of the resurrection in the Old Testament is only mentioned only a few times yet it is an important in our daily lives. The concept of the resurrection gives us hope for the future after death; a future to be with God, which provides meaning for this life and how we live.…
