Review of Video Clips and Short Answer Responses
Video 1 – Effective Meeting
1. The group addressed the agenda items by making sure everyone had a copy of the agenda, being prompt and organised by addressing all items in order, they stuck to the appropriate conversation and follow up and gave everyone a chance to talk.
2. Two strategies that the facilitator used to encourage all group members to participate equally in the meeting were; 1.Greeted everyone as they came in and acknowledged they were present, this helped to make everyone feel involved and 2. Always asked for people’s opinions of things and that they all agreed.
3. Three examples of effective communication used within the meeting were; 1. People had their turn to speak; this helped everyone have a clear view of what was required and how they felt about the decisions.
2. The facilitator rephrased what people had said, making sure a full understanding was made before moving on to the next agenda item.
3. Non verbal body language – people’s attention was directed towards to speaker and remained interested throughout the meeting
4. The group could share the outcomes of the meeting with other stakeholders with whom the networks should be maintained by producing a simple handout out that contains the important parts of the meeting that was discussed.
Video 2 – Ineffective Meeting
1. The group had difficulties addressing the agenda. It was unstructured and ineffective, the group seemed frustrated, they were being rude and no one seemed to be listening to anything that was being said.
2. Three examples of ineffective communication that were used in the meeting were; 1. No one was hearing anything that was being said, they were too involved in having a turn to speak.
2. Body language was uninterested, there was no eye contact.
3. Everyone in the meeting seemed to dismiss what other people were communicating, they were interrupting and answers were negative.
3. As an observer to the
