President Trump started by accusing the administrations that have been there before him, including that of Barrack Obama, of minding their own selfish interests leaving the people of America to bear the costs and sufferings. He talked of politicians prospering while many people are jobless. However, by January 2017, statistics show that there more people employed in the US that any other time in the American history. This statement by Trump only speaks to how many Americans feel.
Throughout his speech, Trump used the term “women” only twice where in both case he refers to “men and women”. This can be questioned whether it is accidental that Trump does not address specific issues facing women alone bearing in mind that his campaign was faced with allegations of sexual harassment to women. …show more content…
This is true that under the Pentagon budget and size of the armed forces has over time gone down under the Obama administration. However, it could be argued that these cuts are due to the Republican –mandated spending limits while others are as a result of operations of winding up the long existed wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Further, in his speech, Trump was so clear that all matters to do with trade and foreign affairs would be made to the benefit of Americans. He argued that such protection would lead to prosperity and strength. It is true that allowing for free foreign imports to America had brought severe effects in terms of loss of jobs. However, some of jobs available for Americans even if imports were to be restricted, are relatively small especially in manufacturing
