Rhetorical Analysis Of Donald Trump's Address
Donald Trump was elected on November 8th, 2016 and became the 45th president of the United States on January 20, 2017. The President’s speech was unlike any other, he gave a very populist message that was an influence on the campaign trail, as well. President Trump starts off his speech stressing the importance of joining “in a great national effort to rebuild our country” and then slowly moves on to basically subtweeting the last presidency. He states that DC has “reaped the rewards of the government” while the people do not receive any of it. He focuses on the problems of our nation but gives us no means to fix it; the promises made during his campaigns, such as the wall and the banning of Muslims, were nonexistent from his speech. At a time where America is, obviously, economically steady, he described a nation with “rusted-out factories scattered like tombstones across the landscape.” A nation with failing schools, streets littered with gang violence; Trump describes this as “American carnage” and promised that it “stops right here and stops right now.” Although he vowed to rethink America’s foreign affairs, immigration policy, taxes, etc, he never really gave a plan to elaborate these ideas. …show more content…
This country is built on immigrants and any educated, informed individual, would know the detrimental effects that would have on the economy. A portion of the speech was also fictitious, he mentioned an alternative fact stating that more people voted for him rather than his opponent, but statistics show that Mrs. Clinton won by 2.86 million. Mr. Trump’s speech was extremely grim but towards the end it became inspiring; he chanted the words “Together, we will make America strong again. We will make America wealthy

This made it no surprise how his Inaugural Address was going to go. Like most Presidents before him, he started out the speech by acknowledging the former Presidents, and other distinguished guessed at the ceremony. After saying thank you to President Obama and his family, President Trump did not waste any time getting down to business. He started going into detail about how it did not matter who won the election, because it always seemed the people always lost. There were multiple wide shots in this speech, but there was one that stuck out to me the most. This wide shot was very specific to everyone and made me feel very empowered. The wide shot that stood out to me the most is when Trump said, “We are one nation. When one state hurts, we all hurt – and we must all work together to lift each other up. Working, building, restarting together.” This part of his speech is very empowering and makes you want to get up and help the country out some how. This quote makes me actually want to vote for Trump because he is reassuring us that we can do it if we all do it together. I am big into team work, so for him to show this team bonding side of him is very reassuring and interesting. When speakers put wide…

Many presidents in the past have been elected because the American people viewed them as a change for their country. In the recent past, the American people have faced “six years of Obama forcing unpopular policies down Americans’ throats; six years of lies and misdeeds by unaccountable bureaucrats; six years of lame growth and resulting wage suppression; six years of appeasing our enemies and facing down our friends; six years of dividing the country…” (Peeks). Trump appeals to voters who are very unhappy with Obama as president. Republicans are extremely angry as Obama has been able to implement many policies via executive action that the GOP Congress cannot do anything about. Trump voices the outrage of these voters and is viewed as the candidate that is able to solve the issues caused by Obama. Since Obama’s presidency is viewed as a failure by many voters, a candidate who will make a change is being sought out, thus paving the way for Trump’s…

What America does not hope for is a confused and more in-debt America. We needed a new presidency to strengthen relationships with our allies, not make our nation seem vulnerable and strengthen terrorist groups. When Trump proposed to replace Obama care, he failed multiple times and his so called “better” for the people plan would only result in lost coverage and extremely pricey medical…

Donald Trump doesn’t know anything about the economy, the government, or even about owning a few businesses. This shows that once Trump becomes our president he’s not even gonna know what to do. According to, “Todaysinfo.net” it shows that Donald Trump is planning to build a wall that will separate the U.S. from Mexico. This shows that Donald Trump doesn’t care about what immigrants think, it also shows how racist he obviously is, and how he doesn’t understand that the U.S. is a free country (he doesn’t know about the economy) Donald Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing, he believes that he’s right and that in the next two years everything will be “better”. “I will make the country better again”- Trump…
