When a song is as heavily covered as Fats Domino’s “Ain’t That A Shame” from his album Rock and Rollin with Fats Domino you know that there is something special about it. With recording artists such as Pat Boone, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and even the 1970s rock group, Cheap Trick recording the song many people know at least one version. However the original version has a special something about it that helps it stand out from the many covers. The song has an enticing hook, interesting historical context, and is an earworm that was with me for several days after I first heard the song.…
The song reaches it’s climax when the boy finds a gun in his home and considers suicide. He later decides to call for help and near the end of the song, we see the young boy as a grown man marrying his crush from high school and they start a family together. The song is a message of hope and is almost a conversation between the boy and the…
First stanza – lines 1 thru 4 – the speaker and others African American men are being attacked and the speaker requests for them to respond to the attack.…
This and the use of incorrect grammer, so common to rebellious teenagers, helps portray the message of the song, which is that today’s youth are prisoners of the older generations society, which alienate the younger generation and instead of looking for support and comfort, they thrive to rebel against these rules and law enforcement bodies, with the institution of society having no effect on the younger generation as they don’t comply and don’t want to reform. This creates the younger generations culture, arguing they are their own society.…
The song talks about times the friends had together that they wouldn’t trade for anything, like the times Max and Kevin had together. ‘Goodbye’ is said over and over like how Max has to say goodbye to Kevin. The song also talks about the artist finding a way to tell the world about his friend just like Max wrote a book about the adventures they had. This song reminds me of the strong friendship that Max had with Kevin.…
People must remember that during youth, this is the time when they are shaped for the future. Another issue addressed in this song is about racial discrimination and why it is not right. God made people equally, whether they are black, white, yellow, or any other color. Why must a race look down on another if we are all the same? It lets us remember that we are all humans and no one is higher than us except for…
“Talking shit about a pretty sunset,” is a song that portrays an overall apathetic outlook on life. The listener can clearly hear the discontent expressed in the words sung and the execution in the music. Thoughts of suicide, phobia of commitment, lack and gain of motivation, fixation and illusions of a better life are all present. Through the complex breaks and climax of the song, tells an emotional story of revelation, realization and self-actualization.…
The message of this song may help change how bullies treat their victims, because they see their side of the story. Lastly, speeches have had the biggest impact on our society out…
The second stanza starts off with “I see no changes. All I see is racist faces.” This conveys the same thing I stated earlier. There are not many changes that have been made, and people are still just as racist as they were. He also talks about how the majority of the people in jail are blacks, but that is because they keep doing the things that are putting them there. They have no other way to get money, so they resort to selling drugs. He realizes that this is the reason African Americans are not succeeding…
ntasy that Twenty One Pilots conjure in "Stressed Out" (Friedersdorf and Garber). The song is thought to be the millennial song of devotion. " Stressed out" is the millennial hymn, on the grounds that in the tune it discusses how fears, push, instabilities, understudy advances, and grown-up obligations are reasons for uneasiness for some. A major part of the song is the character named Blurryface. As clarified by Tyler Joseph Blurryface "speaks to every one of the things that I as an individual, yet additionally everybody around me, are shaky about.…
The lyrics of the song reflect the time period of about the past twenty years or so when people were beginning to really notice lies from institutions including government. The lyrics of this song are mostly consistent with deep metaphors in order to explain what it is that outraged Gurewitz. The song is comprised of a lot of natural delivery and shifts to shouting during the hook most likely so as to give emphasis to the central idea of the writers passion to fix world problems. Two of the lyric numbers that have a great metaphor is…
The title “Keep Ya Head Up”, means exactly what it says. Some may say that the songs meaning was about the struggle that black women face on a daily basis during the 90’s. And others may say that the song is for men to realize that the way they are treating women are bad, and they need to treasure us. The other opinions were also valued because he touched base of all of these important reasons. Now of days we still aren't valued as much as another male is. This song was an great example of Leadership that someone showed through lyrics of a…
As the data states, most of my students did very well with recalling information and selecting the right choice on the quiz. However, there were still a few students that did not get 100% of the questions correct. One reason that students could miss the question is because they were absent that day. Student 17 has a history of being out, and is a TCT participant which means they leave school and come back but because they are being bused from point A to point B and back, they are usually 10 minutes late to class. This is something that has been brought up in many faculty meetings and other conversations throughout the school year.…
The sky is falling down as everything the speaker and audience were trying to build. Crashed into this lonely town as the reality of what life used to be, and the shadow as the actual oppression. Again, the speaker is appealing to the audience’s emotion because these lyrics hit home if you can relate to the struggle of freedom. Just the idea of going back to the life of being oppressed is enough to make you feel the speaker’s…
I was born a shotgun in my hands. Behind the gun I’ll make my final stand.” Listening to this song makes me stop and think of all the people out there fighting for our lives. Most people don’t care about the people out there, but in my mind the world wouldn’t be like this if it wasn’t for all the people out there sacrificing their…
