Residents that live in south Mission say there is often immigrants hiding from the border patrol by their homes. Although many who cross the border don’t come to cause harm there are only in search for the American Dream. In a country where they know they have hope to give their family a better life. The same can’t be said for others some do cross because they are fleeing Mexico to come to the U.S. for safety and they come do harm here.
Trump’s wall will have a negative impact on the relationship between the Rio Grande Valley and Mexico. Most importantly because Trump wants Mexico to pay for the wall by putting a tax on imported things coming into the U.S. This means Mexican products will become more expensive for us. For example, pricier tequila, candy, fruits and vegetables and other groceries, things RGV residents typically go to Mexico for, but also things we need such as cars, medicine, eyeglasses etc. If big retail importers raise prices in Mexican products it can hurt sales which means American

Will Donald Trump’s wall be as magnificent as the Great Wall of China or can Trump even achieve the construction of the his great wall? Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is a television program that covers current political news and current events with humor. In the segment, “Border Wall” (cite), Oliver discusses Donald Trump’s idea of his border wall in Mexico. With satirical support and evidence, it is questionable whether or not Trump’s wall is achievable. Considering all the reasons Trumps has decided to propose a wall versus the cost and requirements needed to build the wall, it is concluded that Trump’s wall is inefficient and will provided no useful services, but instead create problematic situations. Therefore, Oliver arguing that Trump’s great wall isn’t as competent as he makes it seem.…

On October 26, 2006, U.S. President George W. Bush signed the Secure Fence Act of 2006 to help secure the US. Mexican border to decrease drug trafficking and security threats. The act mandated the construction of almost 700 miles of barrier fences along the Mexican border. The act also appropriated the expansion of checkpoints, vehicle barriers, and technological systems designed to monitor the expanse of the boundary but per the department of homeland security, this promise had not been kept, just 5 percent of the double-layer fencing is complete, only 36.3 miles. Under those circumstances, the boldest promises made by the president-elect, Donald Trump, as well as one of his first promises, was building a wall along the US-Mexican border.…

Henry Payne's cartoon "For Illegal Immigrants by Illegal Immigrants" shows us the Irony of Donald Trump wanting to build a Wall/ Fence, to keep illegal immigrants out of the united states. Payne's cartoon is ironic because Trump wants to get rid of immigrants but yet immigrants are the ones that do the dirty jobs other legal people don’t want to do. Trump wants illegal immigrants to build the very wall that will keep the out of a country that offers liberty and many opportunities for all kinds of people. Payne’s cartoon has bias against the fact that Donald Trump Wants to build a wall to keep immigrants out of the United States. Payne’s cartoon will help my paper because it tells people that are in favor of the wall being built that without…

The All-American Canal is an aqueduct that conveys the last drops of Colorado River water into the Imperial Valley in California. The canal provides drinking water for 9 cities and irrigates over 500,000 acres. It was built in the 1930’s by the United States Bureau of Reclamation and completed in 1942. It’s owned by the federal government and operated by the Imperial Irrigation District (IID). Two thirds of our winter fruits and vegetables are grown using this water. The canal creates jobs in the farming industry and half of the people who pick the crops are illegal aliens who cross the canal from Mexico. The problem is the canal is 225 feet across and 20 feet deep with currents that can carry a person 8 feet per second once in the water. Since the double fences were installed on the borders of San Diego, Ca. and Mexico in 1997 border crossing there has significantly decreased and as a result the canal has become the new entry place into the U.S. Since 1997 over 850 people have perished trying to cross the canal from Mexico. They are buried in a California desert in unmarked graves.…

With the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo on February 2, 1848, the border dividing the Mexican people was formed. The Mexican border means various things to different people. To date, 600 miles of border wall has already been built. This wall would extend from California, to El Paso, to the valley. The first reason given by the government for construction of the wall was to prevent terrorist attacks, the next was to keep illegal Mexicans out, and the most current one is to combat the drug smuggling into the United States. For some Mexicans and Mexican Americans, the border poses threats, and for others, it establishes possibilities for oneself and one’s family.…

The people on the Liberal or Progressive side of the political spectrum are most outraged over the Muslim and refugee ban, the building of the wall between Mexico and the USA, and the Key Stone and Dakota Access Pipeline revival. The Muslim and refugee ban, as well as the Wall, are enacted on the discriminatory belief that all Muslims are terrorists and that all Mexicans are rapists or thieves. The ban of Muslims and refugees is only directed at the Middle Eastern countries that Trump has no business ties to, which is a little odd. Why not ban all Muslims? On the other hand, the wall is estimated to cost between 12 and 15 billion dollars. This wall is pointless. Why not direct this large sum of money to actually helping the American people? Trump could improve education, healthcare, and many other things. Trump has and will waste billions of dollars just to be racist and to benefit his business…

If we actually build this border wall, it will become an environmental catastrophe; especially, it will make a cut line through the natural bridge between Central America and North and South America. “Many of the animals that live in North America, evolved in South America and migrated along this natural causeway”. So, it would definitely be an absolutely devastating for the environment. For example, there are so many bird species will be critically affected because of the migration during the construction; and also it will happen the same way for many threatened and endangered species including ocelots, gray wolf, and jaguars since they might become extinct after this…

Supporters of the Secure Fence Act believe that while the 700 mile fence might not cover the entire span of the border, it will cover one-third, channeling illegal immigrants to the remaining two-thirds of the border; therefore, border patrolmen will be able to better concentrate their efforts on the remaining two-thirds of the border with better results. After the construction of the San Diego Fence, many illegal immigrants began crossing through alternate routes. For example many illegal immigrants began crossing through the Arizona desert, this caused many of San Diego’s border agents to move out there. T.J. Bonner, president of the National Border Patrol Council in 2006 said, “Tucson now has 2,600 agents, San Diego has lost 1,000 agents. Guess where the traffic is going? Back to San Diego! San Diego is the most heavily fortified border in the…
