The Pros And Cons Of Secure Fencing
On October 26, 2006, U.S. President George W. Bush signed the Secure Fence Act of 2006 to help secure the US. Mexican border to decrease drug trafficking and security threats. The act mandated the construction of almost 700 miles of barrier fences along the Mexican border. The act also appropriated the expansion of checkpoints, vehicle barriers, and technological systems designed to monitor the expanse of the boundary but per the department of homeland security, this promise had not been kept, just 5 percent of the double-layer fencing is complete, only 36.3 miles. Under those circumstances, the boldest promises made by the president-elect, Donald Trump, as well as one of his first promises, was building a wall along the US-Mexican border.

Picture this, a nice little bungalow close to the Rio Grande River, with excellent views and a multitude of wildlife. Six months later, picture that same little bungalow, and instead of the scenic view of the river, picture a 20 foot high wall of concrete posts. The migratory routes for the wildlife have been eliminated, and private property has been condemned. All this just to build a fence. Are the American people aware of the costs associated with the U.S.-Mexico Border Fence? Monetarily the amount is astronomical. Are the American people aware of the fact that during the Bush administration,…

¨Life is limitless and dreamers of Mexico cross the border they can't be denied the entry to America to find a bright future”. This statement shows that a border wall between the U.S. and Mexico will not help anything just cause more problems and harm millions of people. If a wall is built it will most likely won't solve anything to prevent Mexicans or other immigrants coming to America. Additionally, the wall does not keep out terrorist or drug smugglers. Also, a border wall between the U.S and Mexico can´t protect American jobs or reduce crime. Instead, it will waste resources like public takes and the money to pay the guard to watch the fence. It will also be take an enormous amount of money to build the wall and to surveillance it.…

The people on the Liberal or Progressive side of the political spectrum are most outraged over the Muslim and refugee ban, the building of the wall between Mexico and the USA, and the Key Stone and Dakota Access Pipeline revival. The Muslim and refugee ban, as well as the Wall, are enacted on the discriminatory belief that all Muslims are terrorists and that all Mexicans are rapists or thieves. The ban of Muslims and refugees is only directed at the Middle Eastern countries that Trump has no business ties to, which is a little odd. Why not ban all Muslims? On the other hand, the wall is estimated to cost between 12 and 15 billion dollars. This wall is pointless. Why not direct this large sum of money to actually helping the American people? Trump could improve education, healthcare, and many other things. Trump has and will waste billions of dollars just to be racist and to benefit his business…

This is explained in “Donald Trump Biography”, in which Donald Trump states what he intends to do if he were to claim presidency, his objectives are to, “Build a wall along the US- Mexico border to stop undocumented immigration. Temporarily ban immigration from countries with a history of terrorism into the United States”. We have to understand that instead of ceasing the problem his solutions could cause it to mutate and develop into something worse. We as a society are already split by prejudice and racism weather we chose to believe it or not. By building a physical barrier to separate us from humanity, Donald Trump is visually showing a hatred and unwillingness towards a specific group of people and with it broadcasting all the prejudice and discrimination that's been buried away, bringing it to the surface of our society for the world to see our cruel, inhuman nature. The people being targeted will fight back and develop a mutual hate, causing more violent acts and possibly growing the terrorism problem that he was trying to stop. Donald Trump has shown a consistency of ignoring the reason behind these problems and with his solutions instead of solving the problem he’s blocking them out with laws and walls instead of acknowledging the cause or…

The U.S border with Mexico spans almost 2,000 miles from the states of California to Texas, and illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and other security breaches along the border have been issues of growing concern for decades. After September 11, 2001 the call to secure American borders increased and the idea of expanding physical layers of security along the Mexican border began to gain serious importance in the minds of lawmakers. Signed into law by Ex-President George W. Bush, the Secure Fence Act in 2006 mandated the construction of almost 700 miles of barrier fence along the Mexican border; proponents of the physical fence believe that the barrier will act as a strategic impediment for those who wish to cross the border from Mexico into the United States illegally. While the wall proposed is 700 miles long, the US-Mexico border is roughly 2,000 miles long. This means illegal immigrants will simple try to cross over the two-thirds of the border that is not covered by the fence. A fence along the US-Mexico border should not be built as it will not stop illegal immigrants from entering the United States.…

Donald Trump calls himself a common sense conservative. He wants to do what is right for America and get things done in general. Donald Trump won’t just side on a topic because it is the right thing to do, he makes his decision on what needs to be done. For example, most Republicans side with Israel on the topic of terrorism versus Palestine. Trump said he would side with Israel, but would really like to work out a deal between the two that could help resolve some problems overseas. On the border, Trump wants to put up a wall to keep out illegal immigrants that are flooding into the United States and taking jobs away from U.S. Citizens. He wants to start putting up the wall as soon as he is put into office, and wants to make Mexico pay for the wall. Everyone seems to be skeptical of his idea that Mexico will pay for the wall. “If Mexico doesn't agree to pay for the wall, Trump suggests increasing a number of fees, including those on temporary visas issued to Mexican CEOs and diplomats, border crossing cards and NAFTA worker visas from Mexico. He also proposes increases fees at ports of entry at the Mexican - United States border.” (Deb). This quote was pulled out of a CBS News article that focused on Trump’s plan. Trump has a plan based on increasing fees to Mexicans in order to get the wall built. He also has spoken many times on his plan for trade. Trump wants free trade…
