Overview

Who actually provides roadside assistance service that many people buy from the vehicle manufacturer, insurance company or motor club? The same tow truck can be an authorized provider for many different companies. Actually many car manufacturers and insurance companies contract out the entire roadside assistance program to a third- party.

Agero

Formerly Cross Country Automotive Group is one of the largest third-party service providers with call centers across the country. Agero has contracts with 70% of the car manufacturers and they rebrand their service for GM, Ford, Lincoln, Mazda, Toyota, Chrysler, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Fisker, Land Rover, Honda and Acura. The company handles 80% of all insurance carriers that offer roadside assistance - USAA, Nationwide, Liberty Mutual, State Farm and Progressive. Agero has an automated diagnostic trouble code notification service that is a combination of in-vehicle display alerts and guided voice messages to provide owner with additional instructions on what to do next. Using a web portal for configuration, information can be conveyed by e-mail, text or automated call and is sent to the owner’s preferred dealer to assist with the repair process.

Allstate Roadside Service (ARS)

ARS provides service to the Allstate Motor Club, Signature Motor Club (owned by (Allstate) and the Paragon Motor Club (independent). Signature provides service to BP Oil, Exxon/Mobil, Chevron/Texaco, Mercedes, BME/ Mini, Good Sam, Ferrari, AARP, and RoadSmart. ARS offers a diagnostic data capture mobile app that identifies the vehicle’s problem and the lets the owner select what type of service is desired: tow, battery jump, flat tire, fuel delivery and lock out
