Have you ever wondered what it would be like if robots took over jobs all around the world? Well that question may or may not be answered in the upcoming years. Robots taking over jobs has become a controversial topic. Blue Collar workers as well as white collar workers have mixed views on the matter. This is important because the fact of the matter is that it will affect our future one way or another, whether it’s for better or for worse. For example, many people believe that legal work will change in the future due to automation. Although I believe this to be true. I feel as though robots will only take certain aspects of my job such as document reviewing which is also known as the grunt work, rather than my job entirely. …show more content…
How about having a robot hold your freedom in the palm of its claw or hard drive? Artificial intelligence over the past few years has gotten good at reading emotional reactions in humans. However, reading is not the same as understanding. This can have a major impact in court and in front of judges. For example, lawyers in the form of AI would not know how to take emotions into account when judging a case or individual. For example, the defendant may seem sincere and ultimately sorry for what he did, but the robot cannot understand that. Instead, the AI would look at the facts or hard evidence to make its case. In an article titled “MAN VS. MACHINE: The three things humans will always do better than robots,” Roger Wu, founder of cooperatize, states “Simple bots may have a hard time recognizing that more than 50% of communication occurs in body language or in other undertones that only comes from human intuition or long term relationships” (1). What this means is that us as humans have that sort of connection where we already understand when somethings wrong or if something needs to be said. We can read that type of body language and interpret it in a real life scenario, whereas AI cannot. So the fact that AI cannot understand the meaning of emotions/emotional situations, proves that they are incapable of successfully helping defendants or interacting with a judge or
