Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Courage Quotes
Courage is when, you must stand up for yourself, NOT back down to be hurt. Throughout the novel Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry, By: Mildred Taylor is a true story about, when blacks and whites didn't get along. Whites would always get the better, new of things, while blacks got their old dirty books, and school supplies. Stacey proves his courage by standing up for T.J. when he cheated on the test and got in trouble. Stacey also stood up for his family when they have to stand up for what is right. Staceys actions show that he is all about keeping his family safe and he showed the most courage when the night men came to get T.J., I like that he was always wanting to get in and help out.

“Friends gotta trust each other, cause ain't nothin like a true friend.” Stacey was not afraid to tell the truth but made sure the other person didn't get mad at him so he took the consequences because he was faithful to others. This is evident in the middle of the book when T.J. cheated on the test and Stacey stood up for what was right. Staceys not the type of person that argues, so when he was blamed for cheating on the test, he just took it anyways and got the petaling. “Well, weather she knowed it or not, she sh’

said it made me look like....like a preacher.”(pg 141) Stacey was confused on what T.J. was trying to tell him about looking bad in the jacket so he needed to give it to T.J. This is evident closer to the end of the book when T.J. fooled Stacey and took his jacket. Staceys not the real bright one but, he cares more about his family and friends more than he does himself, so he gave the jacket to T.J. because he thought he really did look bad in it. T.J. said, “It makes you look like a preacher.” “The coat was too big for me and...and T.J. said it made me look like...like a preacher.” This shows that Stacey cares about everyone and believed T.J. that it looked bad on him. Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself when there's no-one
