Throughout the novel, Roll of Thunder Hear My Cry, Mildred Lee Taylor, uses young and old to show courage when things go wrong. Uncle Hammer shows his courage by standing up for Cassie, and selling his nice car for the Logan family. Uncle Hammer actions shows that he is an uprising and outspoken character who loves his family. As time passed Uncle Hammer and his family were willing to face consequences that came their way.
