Rome was a very inventive and barbaric country back in the olden times. They had many sports like gladiatorial shows, boxing, and chariot races. Of course, they had many of their own languages called Romance languages and foods such as, raw meat and wheat pancakes. Romans also had many traditions that most haven’t even heard of! In this paper, we are going to tell you about Rome’s ancient past.
In A.D. 80, one of the most famous Romans structures called the Coliseum, (a huge arena) was made. This arena was made out of concrete and sand and so were Roman statues. Romans created their statues very realistically, they added wrinkles, warts, and many other non-attractive features. Also, Roman food is a lot like the food we eat today. Romans ate fish with fish sauce, wheat pancakes with honey, and raw meat. The Roman’s main meal was dinner. Men had short hair, long beards, and wore long sleeved shirts called tunics. Women wore fancy hairstyles such as piling their hair on top of their heads. Women also wore short sleeved dresses that were belted at the waist. Their flag stands for Senates Populusque Romanus. Their flag has an eagle on it as well a wreath with the letters S.P.Q.R. written on the bottom.

Family is also known as the heart of Rome. At age 15 boys are considered men, and unlike boys, girls are not considered women until marriage. The population of Rome in 100 A.D. was roughly around 1,000,000 permanent residents. Rome’s sports are very important to their culture. They held chariot races, Roman boxing, and gladiatorial shows. Animals were sometimes used in gladiatorial shows. Some animals used were wild boars, lynx, rhinos, hippos, elephants, leopards, tigers, lions, bears, bulls, and
