“Romeo, Romeo wherefore art thou Romeo?” is one of Shakespeare’s famous quotes in the romantic tragic play “Romeo and Juliet”. (II,ii,36). The biggest tragedy of the play is that the deaths of both Romeo and Juliet could have been prevented.
Nearly every person has contributed to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, but the people who are the most to blame is Romeo, Juliet and Friar Lawrence. Romeo is responsible because he used his eyes not his heart to find love, and was impulsive. Juliet is also blamed because she trusted too many people and fell in love too fast. Friar Lawrence is the last to be blamed because he gave Juliet poison that could go wrong, and he didn’t personally give to letter to Romeo telling him about Juliet, and there were some interruptions.
First, Romeo was responsible for his own death because he used his eyes not his heart to find love. The friar said “Young men’s love then lies/Not truly in their hearts but in their eyes. (II,iii,67-68). Romeo saw Juliet’s face and loved her from that moment on and didn’t know anything about her at all, and that caused grief to everyone around him in the end. Another reason is that the Prince said “If you ever disturb our streets again/Your lives shall pay the forfeit of the peace” (I,I,94-95) If Romeo was not impulsive, Romeo’s decision to kill Tybalt for Mercutio is what causes his death. If he didn’t do this, he would not have been banished from Verona.
Secondly, Juliet was also responsible because she didn’t seem to have many friends and she relied on what her mom, dad, nurse, and many others said and put trust into them. She put trust into the friar to give her the potion, and in the end she killed herself. Everyone betrayed Juliet in some way. Her father told her “hang, young baggage, disobedient wretch”. (III,v,160). Her mother says “Do as thou wilt, for I have done with thee.” (III,v,203). The Nurse also betrays
