Room Temperature Synthesis Essay

For over the past several years each student is given 3 containers, each with 1 larva, which they had to care for. After the larvae had formed their chrysalises each student put 1 of their containers into a cold climate approximately 45°F, 1 in a warm climate approximately 85°F and 1 stayed out at room temperature approximately 72°F. The larvae spent a total of 5 days in each climate, and then they were removed and brought back to room temperature. Then the waiting game started to see how long it took each larva to go through metamorphosis and emerge as a butterfly. Based on the data that was recorded it looks like the larvae turned into butterflies twice as fast when exposed to a warmer climate than a cooler one. By the 9th day mostly all of larvae went through a metamorphosis in the warmer climate, it took 2 more days for the room temperature butterflies to hatch and another 4 days from that for the cooler ones to hatch.
