In the last module, we discussed the legal use of DNA analysis in forensic medicine. In this discussion, we will take a look at some of the internal machinery of the cell. Organelles are essential for specific functions associated with a cell. For example, you would expect to find an abundance of mitochondria in a cell involved in energy requiring process, such as active transport of an ion. Select an organelle and discuss what functions might be effected in the body if this organelle was defective.Imagine that you have been summoned to a jury which will be considering the disposition of a murder case. There has been a great deal of media coverage of this case and it has indicated that examination of DNA evidence will play an important role during the trial. The defense attorney asks you to explain your position on use of this type of evidence to determine guilt or innocence. What will you answer? Please explain your position.
