Ruby Bridges Biography
Ruby Bridges was born on September 8,1954 in Tylertown Mississippi. She grew up on a farm with her parents and grandparents. When she was 4 years old her parents moved to New Orleans hoping for a better life.
Her father worked at a gas station attendant and her mom took night jobs to help support the family’s growth. Ruby had 2 young brothers and a young sister. When Ruby was in kindergarten she was one of the African-American in New Orleans who was chosen to take a test to determine if she could go to a all white school.the was to make sure all the African-Americans don't pass so they would stay segregated for a while

Ruby thought that she would be able to go to any of the classes because no teacher wanted to teach her. Only one teacher attended to teach her and her name was Barbara Henry. Barbara was from Boston and she was the new teacher at the school. Ruby was the only student in Mrs.barbara class cause parents was taking their kids out of school and they even threatened Ruby because they took their kids out of school.When Mrs.Henry had went to the teacher lounge to eat the other teachers were talking about her and Mrs.Henry had to leave Ruby in the class because of the crowed of people,an Mrs.Henry did not like the way people was doing …show more content…
She had nightmares and she would get her mom up in the middle of the night and wanting comfort. After that lady had told her that she was going to poison her Ruby did not eat nothing in her classroom she was waiting on students to be in her class and so she never ate the sandwiches her mom packed for her. She always hide them in the class storage cabinet in the classroom. One day a janitor had seen mice and cockroaches who had got to the sandwiches. Dr.Robert seen how the people was doing Ruby and so he asked the marshals can they talk to Ruby and they did not let him,so he went to her house and talked to her and they drew pictures and Ruby drew and picture of a person with a rope around her neck. When she drew that picture he told them he will talk to her tomorrow and they went home and Dr.Robert told his wife about what was going on at school.

Near the end of the school year things began to change. A little kids that was in Ruby’s grade they came back to school and Ruby’s teacher went to another class and got the students that was in that class and they went to her class. When they came to her class she let them write on paper and then she let them play duck duck goose and when the other kids was it they never touched Ruby and they never chose her so she went back to her seat and started to draw again,so the other kids went back to their class. Ruby’s teacher did not like what they did so she sat in the class and ate with Ruby
