With rugby’s growing popularity in the US, it is starting to get noticed by greater amounts of people and is now being compared to American football. But the biggest conversation is about the safety of each sport. Some say that rugby is football but without the pads and so that automatically makes it more dangerous, but not using pads does not mean that it is going to get someone hurt more often. Besides, the one who says rugby is more dangerous hasn’t looked at football’s problems. Even though there are no pads in rugby, it is still the safer sport than football because the rules of tackling and the way tackles are made are different from each other, the rugby player is able to prepare for the tackle, and football equipment is too expensive to provide actual help and safety.

Otherwise the ball doesn’t move and there is almost no way to get the ball if you are defence unless they pass the 4th down or if someone drops the ball and another picks it back up. The main goal in defence is to stop the opposing team from gaining yards. But in rugby, their main purpose is to gain back the ball, but they do it in a safe way. When the team without the ball contest with the others after the tackle, it is called a ruck. That is when the opposing team is allowed to step over the person who was tackled and take the ball, but the real ruck is when the team who still has possession of the ball will push and keep the other team off. The teammates also have time to prepare for that ruck as well. Head injuries can happen it those as well so they have to be careful in them.
