Running Record Reflective Essay
The artifact that I have chosen that shows I have met HTSB Standard 4: Application of Content comes from the course Developing Language and Literacy. The assignment Case Study: Running Records Assessment best shows that I have met this standard. For this assignment, I was required to complete 10 hours of service learning so that I could assess a student in their reading ability. During this 10 hours, I observed the student in the classroom. I also completed a running record assessment on the student to gauge her reading level. After the completion of the service learning, I created a case study. The case study included a background on the student including a description, what I observed of the child in the classroom, interview insights, and

Using the Thin Layer Chromatography experiment, caffeine was found to be the most polar due to the fact that it stayed closer to the stationary phase. Caffeine contains four amine groups that are extremely polar as a result of the hydrogen bond and amide functional group. Acetaminophen was found to be the second most polar analgesic drug tested. Acetaminophen contains a polar alcohol group on one side and amide group on the other but also includes non-polar functional groups that consisted of the benzene ring and methyl group. Acetylsalicylic acid low polarity results from only containing a carboxylic acid and ester and the presence of alkenes in the benzene ring. Ibuprofen was the least polar out of all analgesic drugs because it only contains one carboxylic acid and non-polar functional groups.…

In this task I will be reflecting upon an incident undertaken on area of my work. The model of reflection I’ve chosen is Gibbs (1988), which involves reflection on the description, feelings, evaluation, conclusion and action plan (Gibbs 1988). The Gibbs (1988) reflective cycle is fairly straightforward and encourages a clear description of the situation, analysis of feelings, evaluation of the experience, analysis to make sense of the experience, conclusion where other options are considered and reflection upon experience to examine what you would do if the situation arose again. The procedure in which I will be reflecting upon is Last offices; I chose this due to how constructive and valuable it was in my personal and professional development as a student practitioner nurse.…

As nervous as I was when I walked into Saint Joseph Catholic School (K-8) for my first day of kindergarten, I never thought I would be able to leave after 6th grade and enter the world of middle school. In a small school of about 400 kids, I was familiar with every face that passed by me in the hallway. I got to know the kids in my grade so well and we all knew each other’s life stories. By the time I was in 6th grade at Saint Joseph, some of my friends were planning on going to Kinard middle school in 7th grade. At this point in my life, I was not completely content with where I was going to school. The realization came to me that it was time to move on. It was time for me to try something new.…

The results of this revolution would completely change the way humans acted. How they worked, the amount and type of goods they bought, the family structure, the social structure, and the way individuals thought were all changed. But, despite its advances, the industrial revolution made life harder for most people at the time because of poorer health and low wages. While some may argue that living in the cities meant access to better health care the evidence supports the idea that the health of working people during the industrial revolution was dramatically worse than before. By the mid 1800s the life expectancy in cities averaged between 25 and 30 years.…
