Data Collection A survey was given to 20 staff members in the early childhood field the results are outlined below.
1. What are safe sleep practices? 11 Staff members answered correctly
2. Can a baby sleep in their car seat? 13 Staff members answered correctly
3. Can you prop a baby up for tummy time? 8 Staff members answered correctly
4. Are blankets allowed anywhere in a crib at any time? 8 Staff members answered correctly
5. What are sleep sacks? 18 Staff members answered correctly
6. What is the difference between a podster and a boppy? 6 Staff members answered correctly
7. If a child falls asleep on a boppy what should you do? 12 Staff members answered correctly
8. A parent does not want their child woken up when they arrive at the center what do you do? 16 Staff members answered correctly
After the survey a conclusion was made that safe sleep practices would be a key learning opportunity to reduce the performance gap.

Safe sleep Standards for Infants- To know and understand how babies’ grow and develop in a safe and secure environment. Learning opportunity to go over what the best practices are for infants and following safe sleep policies in the center. There are a lot of policy sign off sheets and memo’s but no clear training in place. Often time’s teachers are confused as to what constitutes safe sleep and what acceptable practices in the classroom are. Performance gap can be solved through an e-learning because it will outline the expectations and give visuals as to what it looks like in a classroom setting.
