From the earliest days of Dr. Sigmund Freud introducing us to individualized psychotherapy analysis session in the early 1900s (Nevid, 9), society has embraced the science of psychology. In 1993, Jim, Marsha and, yes, even Wanda, are all apparently benefiting from this mental health fad, which in fact, continues on seemingly unchanged even today in America. One would be hard pressed to find any American in 2014 who has not participated in some form of therapy at one time or another in their life. In 1993, Jim and Marsha think that they have escaped the tedium of matrimony but in reality they have become a bored, middle aged, attractive couple that has been together for 13 years, perhaps one year too long. They have reached a point in life where they have seemingly reached a plateau and…

I am predicting that Katie will end up falling in love with Alex. Even though she is scared, she will learn to see that not all guys are abusers and cruel like her past husband. Where I left off in my novel, Katie just went to the beach with Alex and his two kids. She tells her friend Jo, “Weren’t you listening? He was bringing his kids to the beach and he invited me along. It wasn’t a date (Sparks 97).” Jo then argues with her that she knows she wanted it to be a date. I also predict they will go on more dates that lead to their falling in love. Jo says, “And, of course, you had a great weekend.” Katie paused. “Yeah,” she said. “I did (Sparks 99).” These all add evidence that Katie will spend more time and all in love with…

Alex just thought of Brittany as a vulnerable teenage girl who he could use to win a bet. When he actually got to meet her he realized she isn’t exactly what everyone thinks she is. He finds out that Brittany actually has real life problems and she is just as human as everyone else. When Brittany opens up to Alex, it just made him fall for her even more. Alex had never endured pure love until he met Brittany. Alex would have done whatever it took to make her happy. He wanted to know everything about her, “I want to know how to make this girl laugh. I want to know what makes her cry. I want to know what it feels like to have her look at me as if I’m her knight in shining armor” (Elkeles 176). Alex’s love was so surreal with Brittany, he would have cared for her prosperity more than his own, even if that meant he would get hurt. When Alex fall in love, his life changes and he will never be the same, “Unfortunately, I can’t run from my heart. It hurts, deep inside my body. And I know I’ll never be the same” (Elkeles…

The film focuses on disgraced former schoolteacher Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) as he attempts to reinvent himself using life’s silver linings. The film begins when Solitano is released from a mental institution. An homage to One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Solitano is the hero of the asylum, having convinced his doctors that his bipolar disorder is well-controlled and will not lead to another violent outburst like the one which nearly killed his unfaithful wife’s lover. A hopeless romantic from the very beginning, Solitano is determined to rekindle his relationship with his disloyal wife. Though Cooper’s intensity is impressive, this plotline becomes secondary as the various other characters weave their quirks into Solitano’s life. Pat Solitano Sr. (Robert De Neiro) is not only an overly zealous Philadelphia Eagles fan, but also a gambling addict and closeted obsessive compulsive. His surreptitiousness hinders his relationship with Pat—whom he believes to be his football good luck charm—much to his dismay as a father. Pat, who is frustrated by the parallels between his own violent tendencies and his father’s behavior, pushes him away when he meets Tiffany (Jennifer Laurence,) a disturbed young widow and sister-in-law to Pat’s best friend Ronnie (Johnny Ortiz.) In obvious irony, Ronnie is perhaps the unhappiest character in the film, though he is in a stable marriage with Pat’s ex-wife’s sister Veronica…

Although stress and anxiety consistently imply an intolerable weight on Alex’s everyday actions and thoughts, he remains unified and untouched by keeping his integrity firm in position and not falling short to any tests of courage. These characteristics are clearly depicted throughout Crocodile Tears as Alex interacted with his social environment and did not fail in any life-threatening plights. To continue, the foremost example of Alex’s integrity can clearly be distinguished as Alex did not lie or deceive others when addressing his undisclosed situations unless required to do so by the M16 authorities. In an example, he confessed a majority of his missions in bright light to his housekeeper, Jack Starbright. Instead of containing his deeds in the dark trench of his mind, he openly discussed with Jack while she…
