The NBA has a two round draft with two picks per team (30 teams). The position of the draft choice is determined by the team’s success in the prior year. So, teams who finished last in the league get to pick early in the draft. While teams that finish at the top of the league, are lower on the list for player selection. For several years, the players and owners struggled to come to an agreement or decision that would benefit both sides of the argument. Finally, in the late 1990s, the two sides came to an agreement. They want to watch exciting, competitive games not lopsided, blowout (meaning a bad loss) games. Fans love close games that come down to the wire because they are exciting. The competitive factors do greatly influence the fans’ decision to attend sporting events (AL). A good example would be the Atlanta Hawks (an NBA team). Last year, 2014, the Hawks had a very average season. However, this season, the team has had the best start in franchise history.
