What’s the problem with same-sex marriage? If two people love each other they should have the right to marry right? They are going to be together any way and they could possibly gain access to a more beneficial life. Some reasons same-sex marriage should be legal is equal rights, acceptance in society, and because of the benefits gained, if legalized. There are still some places that have no desire to accept the LGBT community, but maybe one day they will come around. While banned in a lot of states, same-sex marriage should be made legal everywhere. The first reason same-sex marriage should be legal is because equal rights can be granted to homosexual couples. Hospital visitation should be allowed to anyone regardless of their sexual preference. People involved in same-sex marriages cannot visit their spouse unless accompanied by a relative of the ill. In my opinion, states that ban these rights from same-sex couples are also making people that support these couples have to refuse to help them. This could be doctors, nurses, or any type of authority. No matter what the position, the law outweighs it all. Most Americans support marriage equality and have no problem with accepting the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual, transgender) community into society. Another reason same-sex marriage should be legal is because the LGBT community wants to be accepted into today’s society and also recognized. Surprisingly, the Pew Research center surveyed people of the community and most of them felt as though they’ve become more accepted in the past ten years than ever before. Also, the research center did another survey that showed how the opposition of gay marriage has decreased. These few studies show how negative views of the subject have declined. People are more open to a gay couple adopting and raising kids in a stable home then leaving them in foster homes with no family or love. Homosexuality should be accepted inn society and there should be more benefits entitled to gay/lesbian couples.

Gay marriage should be legal because as woman and man, all individuals have the same right in society; because same-sex couples can constitute a good based family; because it is just a way to make official a common union nowadays, even with the religious issue; because it is not related to polygamy; and because love matters and it does not differ in nature according to the sex of its object or the person who experiences it.…

Could you imagine if you had met the ideal person you wished to share your entire life with but the law would not allow you to? That is the position that many homosexual Australians have been in since the settlement of this country. Same sex marriage is currently not allowed in Australia but I and a proven 60% of other Australians strongly believe it should be. Gay people pay taxes, serve in the military, participate in the workforce, are our neighbors, friends and family. Logic and decency would suggest that they should have the right to marry, just as any heterosexual couple can. However, there are people who disagree with this belief, take for example the government, namely Australia’s prime minister, Julia Gillard, several religious groups who believe marriage should be kept between a man and a woman and those who simply wish to deny the happiness of two people in love because of their anatomy.…

A battle has been in progress for years over whether equal rights and equal protection against discrimination should be extended to homosexual unions. Recently this has expanded into the area of marriage. The topic of homosexual marriage is a topical issue. There is absolutely no legal logical or governing reason that same- sex couples cannot be wed. It’s extremely unconstitutional to refuse them the right to marry. In 2012, we still have not legalised gay marriage in Australia when countries such as Spain and South Africa have. We live in a democratic country that is about rights and freedom of choice. Besides constitutional rights there are a number of economic issues which suggests equal rights for gay people could positively affect our economy.…

First of all, gay marriage should be legalized because it is unfair and unconstitutional to deny citizens this human right. President Obama said, “Every single American-gay, straight, lesbians, bisexuals, and transgender-deserve to be treated equally in the eyes of the law and in the eyes of our society. It is pretty simple proposition” (Qtd. in Skiba 1). Gays and lesbians should have the right to do everything heterosexuals do without being judged. They should have the right to love, marry, and to choose whom they want as life partners. According to Andrew Sullivan, author of “Why Gay Marriage is Good for Straight America”, “Even political rights, like the right to vote, and nearly all other rights enumerated in the constitution, are secondary to the inalienable human right to “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” proclaimed in the Declaration of Independence; and to this category the right to home and marriage unquestionably belongs” (2). All men are created equally. Each and every individual has the right to life,…

Gay marriage has been a critical topic in many countries since 1924. Around the year 2000, countries such as America and the UK started approving gay marriages, although not everyone agreed with this decision. Still in 2013, homosexuals are fighting for their right to get married to someone of their same sex. People against gay marriage feel that if it was to be legalized, the importance of marriage would fade away and some people would refer to marriage in a different way. According to an article from the Human Rights Campaign, there is nothing wrong with allowing homosexuals to have the same rights as those who are heterosexual. Every individual person should have equal rights, regardless of sexuality. Gay marriage should be legalized in all states and countries, as it has been held off for too long.…

Many same-sex couples want the right to get married because they are in love. Many, in fact, have spent the last 10, 20 or 50 years with that person, and they want to honor their relationship in the greatest way our society has to offer. By making a commitment to stand together in good times and bad, through all the joys and challenges family life brings, and to show that off to the public, just like other married couples. Same sex marriage should be legalized because they have a right as individuals of the United States to love whoever they want, and whoever makes them happy, and as citizens of the U.S., they should not be discriminated against based on sexuality.…

Unfortunately, these are some of the hardships that gay and lesbian couples face every day. And the sad thing is most of the arguments keeping same-sex marriage are flawed and reactionary and are based upon nothing more than prejudice, ignorance, bigotry and fear. Same-sex marriage should be legalized because lesbian and gay couples are good parents, because homosexuality is a common occurrence in nature, and because the laws keeping same sex-marriage from being legalized are old and outdated. Those against gay and lesbian marriages often use the argument that homosexual couples are unfit parents and cannot produce a child without help from a 3rd party. So, therefore, they should not be allowed to marry, since the sole reason for a marriage is to produce a child.…
