“Childhood is not from birth to a certain age and at a certain age. The child is grown, and puts away childish things. Childhood
is the kingdom where nobody dies” (Millay, 1950). Children are every country’s most vital resource. This is true not just
morally, but also economically. Investing in the health, education, and skills of children offers the highest economic returns to
a country (Sachs, 2013). According to Sanaulla (2008), children are the ones who decide how the world will be after some
years. There can be change in the world if there is one person who can do something good in the life of a child. The main
component which decides how the person is going to be in the future or the present is the amount of education he or she has
within them. Children are innocent, gullible and hopeful. They should experience the happiness and love given by their
parents. But for many children, the reality of childhood is different. As cited by The Charter of Child Rights, "All children are
born with fundamental freedoms and all human beings have some inherent rights". However, there are unfortunate children who are living in a state of poverty. Right through history, children have been
maltreated and exploited. According to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), these children are those who experience
lack of the material, spiritual and emotional resources needed to survive, develop and prosper, leaving them unable to enjoy
their rights, achieve their potentials or participate as members of society. Actually, there are different factors that would affect
their behaviors in the society. One of these factors is identified by this study entitled “Penge: The Impoverished Children in
Gravahan, Matina, Davao
