Even though Hermosa Beach California and Redondo Beach California are next to each other they are really worlds apart. To a person not raised in the South Bay they look similar but, to someone that is raised in the South Bay it would be like comparing apples to orange both are beaches but, both have a different flavoring. Water pollution has become a major problem in our water sources. People think that when they litter or dump in our waters that their little contribution will not hurt anything, but everyone’s little contributions add up to some major problems. Our water ecosystems and the species that reside in them are being destroyed and we need to take the steps necessary to stop this. Why would anyone use the source of most of the world’s food as a dumping ground for garbage? People need to start realizing what it is they are doing when they do not take the proper steps to dispose of their garbage and the problems they are making for the future.…
The results for nitrate were inconclusive, there are traces of nitrate in wells 15, 20, 23, and 21 but we couldn’t find the source. We believe that number 15 is the source but there is very little amount of pollutants in the water to make the solution turn black. Wells 15, 20, 23, and 21 when tested for nitrates, the iodine changed to a yellowish blackish color. The hypothesis was not supported, well number 26 did not test positive for any of the pollutants. The first well tested was well number 15 and we believe that we found nitrate around the cattle farm because animal wastes contribute to nitrate contamination of ground water (bfhd.wa.gov).…
